Personally speaking, Frank Gore is my favorite player to join the Niners since Jerry Rice. Sure I've liked other players since Jerry, but Gore is something else. Perhaps it was because he was our first skill position (or any position) pro-bowl player to come through since 2002. Maybe it's that the guy gives 200% on the field every time he's there. Maybe it's because he owned the league in 2006. Maybe it's because he's always striving to get better. Or maybe it's because he's been to hell and back (2 reconstructive knee surgeries before his pro career and the loss of his mother during it) and still keeps fighting. Look, I'm aware that P. Willis is an amazing talent and is considered the best player on our team bar-none. He, like Gore, has faced tremendous adversity and has since fought through it to become the best ILB in the game. I don't deny that and I'm a huge fan of Willis. But Gore was the first player in years to come along and give Niner fans something to cheer about. Who can forget runs like that one against DET in 06 or the one against STL in 07 (lost in the crowd on 3rd and waay long, only to emerge unscathed and sprinting towards pay dirt). Bottomline, this guy came in during our darkest time and hasn't complained one bit. He's what makes our offense tick and humbly performs year in and year out; playing through injuries and all. This thread is nothing more than a tribute to Frank Gore. A truly admirable player who gives it his all year in and year out; through all the coaching changes, adversity and losing seasons. Here's to hoping that an improved passing game and complementary r-back gives Frank the help he so richly deserves to be the deadly player he is. #21

Hyde is an ok player but I am yet to see anything to make me believe he is Gore's replacement.

Frank is our savour if we are going to get out of our 4-4 funk.

I hope his hip flexor is ok.

Not the way things are going this year.

Fred Taylor isn't getting in, so 12k rushing yards will be the minimum. Frank will have to play for at least two more years to get there.

Frank Gore is back next year. I like Carlos Hyde, but he hasn't flashed enough to make me believe he's the guy. We have Kendall Hunter back, but he's had two season ending injuries. We can't count on him for sure either. The 49ers will draft yet another RB in this year's draft, hopefully a Duke Johnson/Ameer Abdullah type.

Although they have thrown some passes his way, I wish we'd using the backs in the short passing game more. Especially with 8 men in the box.

Frank Gore is running on Fumes. Stop being Homers. He has lost a significant amount of his power. 49ers should use Hyde A LOT more.

You have no idea what you're talking about. This offensive line hasn't been able to open up decent running lanes for going on 2 seasons now and you want to run Carlos absolutely no patience Hyde. Gore is so much better it's not close. Sick of watching Hyde plow into the backs of our over rated lineman. If our line didnt suck id be on board with using Hyde more. Gore needs 22-25 carries today or we lose imo.

Now it would be a different story if they were trying to get Hyde to the outside, which is what they should've been doing all along.
