Is it just me or does it seem that Ian Rappaport has had some sort of big, bad news story about the 49ers on at least 3 of the 6 gamedays this season??

Baalke's denied it. Fairly sure Frank would be honest about it if anybody asked him.

Sad way to end a tremendous career with mediocre season.

For us to go to the play offs, Gore will have to improve about 50% and get 30 carries a game and average 6 yards a carry.

Because he is still the most consistent offensive weapon we have.

Give gore 10-15 and give Hyde 10-15. Gore runs better when he thinks his job is in jeopardy. Gore may be the now but the future is fast approaching. There is no reason to keep giving him 20 carries a game with a back with Hydes pedigree on the team. Let him stay fresh for the season and maybe get another half a year out of him next year.

The truth is if Walsh was the coach Gore would not be on the team this year after drafting Hyde. He would have cut him with the same "better to cut a player a year too early than a year too late" mantra. He is the lifeblood of the team, but he is also overpaid at 6 million a year and 31 years old.

He needs more touches a game but he needs less percentage of the carries. It should be much closer to 50/50.
