I've always liked Michael Lewis. I wish more athletes could demonstrate what Lewis has with this gesture.

Why? So the Yorks can have a few extra millions to spend on Fendy bags and private jets? It's not like the fans get any discount or the money is distributed to the 3rd string players. And we dont even have a cap problem.

My response probably sounds hostile, but its not. I'm just one of those guys thats really pro player. Football is nothing like baseball, soccer or basketball, it is a very dangerous and physically taxing sport.

It does sound hostile because hopefully the money saved here can help sign players like V Davis , Franklin , Dashon Goldson or others.

I hear yeah, but when are we actually planning on signing these guys?

I would like to see, VD, Lawson and Goldson signed this year. In that order of priority.

I will be starting the sign Lawson campaigne shortly
.

bump

Besides the labor situation, I think the holdup is probably Alex Smith because until he clearly establishes how good of a QB he is, his value could be anywhere from 7 to 10m per year whereas our other free agents have more clearly defined values, for example VD is probably going to get a similar deal to Dallas Clark and Antonio Gates, putting his value at somewhere between 7 to 7.5m per year.
After thinking about this for a day this probably wasn't a class move. The team probably said take a pay cut or we will cut you. No way another team would sign him for 2 million a year with his age and concussion problems. That's how the business side operates..

I thought him and Rachal should be benched so we are halfway there.
Easy move there. So who starts? Reggie Smith or Taylor Mays?

mattbarrows Singletary: Taylor Mays could play with Michael Lewis dealing with "personal reasons" this week.

MaioccoCSN No practice today for 49ers S Michael Lewis (personal reasons). That could open door Sunday for Taylor Mays to see first snaps on defense.

That would be AWESOME!!!!
I'm excited to see Mays on the field. He will probably make a mistake or two, maybe even a big one, but I think he'll also add some excitement to the defensive side of the ball.

Werent the niners gonna release him which is why he took a paycut at the beginning of the year? It was only a matter of time before he was benched
mattbarrows

Lewis' absence follows on the heels of an NFL Net report that he would be benched this week. Lewis is officially listed as probable (ankle).
