Last year we were #13 with Roman at FS, Lawson was part time LB, Haralson was part time, and Harris was healthy. This year we will have more continuity in the Dline, Manusky will have more confidence, Goldson at FS, Brown and Bly at CB, Lawson and Haralson full time, Spikes knows the defense, we have some solid TED backup, Balmer had a whole summer with J. Smith. Lots of hope to keep 13 and improve to 10th.

Thank you! Last year was anything but ball-control. This year, ball-control is the emphasis. That's got to help.

Think about, JTO's fumbles, INT's and holding onto the ball too long last year wore out our defense.

BUT lets not forget the lost of Walt Harris, he played the run just as good as ANY CB or DB in this league, I have a feeling his presence will be felt.

Got a feeling his absence will be felt even more!

Yes, that's what I meant!!! "ABSENCE"

I have a feeling your right as well the thing with bly he is a good corner also. He played opposite of champ bailey. The broncos had argueably a worse pass rush then the niners last couple yrs, and well neither him nor bailey looked the part of a probowl corner imo. Hopefully we can get a pass rush going, and help out our d backs! Clements n bly could have very good yrs if this happens. We lost a probowler, in walt to sign another in bly, to play alongside another in clements!

But I wonder why teams passed on Bly all this time. Did they really think he was washed up, I find that hard to believe.

I don't believe they believed he was washed up at all. He is a ver and prob was expected to be asking for a pretty penny! Yup he didn't do to well in denver. Hell neither did bailey last yr. Their pass rush was worse then ours I seen quite a few games of theirs and the corners had to cover for to long, hell deion woulda had a hard time keeping up, ok ha ha deion woulda done just fine in his prime! Im thinking they wanted a more younger cb. I dunno bro?
I don't know who started the notion around here that nobody wanted Dre Bly. The reason he wasn't snapped up before we got him was money. I think the Redskins were very interested in getting him but they had some kind of a cap problem. This is common these days. Free agents hit the market and their agents float all kinds of numbers that are just unacceptable to various teams and the teams wait them out. It doesn't mean that the teams don't think the guys can play. I'm a big Walt Harris fan, but I really don't think we'll see a drop off with Bly. This will be a much better fit for him than Denver.
i dont give a f**k... as long as they win games!!!!

That's what I was thinking, they wanted to get younger at CB, and I Bly probably didn't want to take a back seat.

And the chance for playing for coach sing might have inspired em a bit. Seeing the drastic change in the team at seasons end? I dunno, kinda stoked we got em to be honest!
I think every defense AIMS to be a top 5. No news here...move along

Damn your right! But ya know the niners want it more ha ha, I hope so any way!
Maybe if we had signed Fat Albert but this team is still lacking our anchor in the 3-4.

Ya aint buying into franklyn manning the spot? Quite a few people are skeptical on him. The thing is if he goes down I aint sure we really have a guy to really fill the void on the line. Soap he likes to chase the qb and doesn't hold the point of attack. I dunno, what's your view on this?

You forgot to mention a critical component in this D improving from 13th... DENOLANIZATION

Yup wasn't we like 28th in d the first half of the season? 5 yard rush attempts, and 300 yard passing games as well. Dropped dramatically when sing took over.

He was actually the best available in the market right now. You could say Chris McAlister or any other big namer thats on the market right now, but Bly was the healthiest, lets not forget he came with a dirt cheap price tag.

The price was great, but im thinking it had more to do with health being good. The caliber of bly was a steal. We had just lost walt, so I don't believe they wanted to take a gamble on mccalister. He is been injured quite often the past few yrs. When 100% he is that damn good and is the man. But when injured well he is just like most others riding the pine. I can tell ya rite now it is gonna be awkward not seeing him in a purple n black uni no more! I love the bly pick up.

Now we have,
nate "dawg" clements
And
"Dr" dre bly
lol
That s**ts just gangsta.
I say that s**t when I play madden ha ha.

what else is he gonna say??

I have to say that I see very little respect for players around here from many posters.

Spikes says Franklin's good - posters basically say he's a phony and a liar.

Smith says top 5 - posters basically say he's a BS-er.

Alex Smith makes a valiant effort to play through a catastrophic injury - posters say he's soft.

Singletary obviously has motivational skills - posters question his pedigree.

etc. etc. etc.

I agree, and I am getting sick of all the negativity. I just don't get it. Yes well all WANT to see it, but what is wrong with a little HOPE while we wait?

Lighten up guys, really.
