I think Singletary is gonnna have some extremely tough cuts this year. These next preseason games are gonna be very important for quite a few players.

Oh, you doubters. Listen to the Big Dog.

Woof!!!!!

AB83 will live another day.

P.S. Cockroach in a nuclear holocaust. You cannot kill off Battle.

I thought you didn't listen to Matt anymore? I do recall a prediction of Crab signing by now? I think he gets traded or cut.

Your magic 8 ball is broken MD

What's up, J22. Come on, now! I predicted August 15th, like about two years ago. Cut the Big Dog a break. I do think I'll be close in the end. Would a window of three days restore your confidence in me?

Crab can't be traded. Passed the Friday deadline. The next deadline is signing by Week 10. If signed after Week 10, he can't play until next season.

Magic 8 ball not shaken enough. Or batteries are low.

I meant Battle being traded or cut. I had a feeling over the weekend that Crabs would sign today so I will take your 3 day window.

You have 3 days

259200 seconds and counting!!

Holy crap I actually have agreed with you twice in the past 2 weeks. I think I should go see my doctor

With everything I see, it's become clear that this team sees Battle making the team without question this year. Barring any injury, that is. Battle started the game opposite Morgan. Sure, Bruce wasn't playing. But the fact that Battle started already shows he's high on the depth chart.

And to the other post, yeah -- I think the Hill vs. Spurlock vs. Ziegler battle is going to be close. Ziegler, I just don't feel there's room for him. He's a guy I can see them bringing in in the case of an injury during the season, that's it.

I feel it'll come down to Hill vs. Spurlock. Not only does Spurlock possess a little bit extra versatility than Hill, Spurlock also made more plays on Friday night, and has been doing well in practice. If I'm looking at it "fairly" right now, based on performance, he's in the lead, and Hill is playing catch up.

I like Hill, and would love for him to stay on, but sometimes a player just outplays you and makes it so you can't be kept. Good for us, bad for Hill, if that happens.

its gonna be close but i would bet Patrick Willis and Frank Gore make the team
I don't see Moore making the team

I like that you have Spurlock making the team, I agree

It will be a good competition between Brooks and Moore to see who makes the team. I think you are right though. Brooks will make it over Moore.

i also think Brooks makes it over Moore. Moore hasnt done much, Brooks looks more solid.
Nice job but at this point there is no way J Moore beats out Ahmad Brooks and I doubt he beats out Marques Harris. I think the team will find a way to put Nate Davis on IR, I just don't think we can afford him to take up a valuable roster spot. I think Ray McDonald will begin the season on the PUP list and be able to play after the first 6 weeks of the regular season. I also think the team may only carrie 8 O-Lineman, I like Alex Boone and am rooting for him but I think he will be on the PS not the regular season roster. I also think Curtis Taylor has a good chance to make the team.

But overall, a very solid job.

We've also heard a lot more praise for Brooks

cut bruce since this year will be his last and keep hill.

I agree with cutting Bruce in favor of one of the younger guys, but I'm not sure it should be Hill. I know Bruce can be productive for us this year, but we have to think long term as well, and we know Bruce will be gone next year. So does it really make sense to cut a younger guy, only to have to replace him next year? I say we keep the following:

Morgan, Jones, Crabtreee, Spurlock, and Hill or DZ for the last spot.

Bruce and Battle are the two I would get rid of. I wish we could keep them all, but we can't.

Bruce for 1 year > Spurlock, Hill or DZ for 1 year BUT

Bruce for 1 year < Spurlock, Hill or DZ for 5 years

OTC, I pretty much agree with the 53 man.

Here are some ones I see a bit differently:
* I think Sims will prevail over Boone and Bender. Boone is strictly a RT at this point, and the Niners have two players slotted at RT (I don't think M. Smith can transition to LT). So, a LT is needed. I'd bet Sims beats out Bender, and of course the end of Western Civilization will shortly commence.

* The WR battle is going to be brutal. Hill, Spurlock, Zeigler. I think only one makes it (unless the Niners carry two until they pick up Jones along the way). I can understand your perspective. The 5th WR on the team has to be a big special teamer. Hill provides good kickoff return coverage, but Spurlock seems to be playing some Wildcat. Zeigler seems like the one without a major role on ST, and that is bad news for him. I'm on the fence on this one, but you could be right with Spurlock. I just don't see Hill's role on this team anymore.

Summer review: MD stated that Hill was no lock to make this team in the Battle vs. Zeigler thread, much to the horror of the masses on the board. MD might be right. MD a very smart cookie.

Cheers.

I think Battle makes it. I also think Hill in on the outside looking in. Frankly, he hasn't really showed much, and B Jones when he comes back takes over the downfield threat.

I like. But if we're going to keep Spurlock I'd sure like to see him take-over Rossum's return duties and add another OLB.

I'd also love to see Curtis Taylor shine enough to make Roman expendable.

Both looked good on Friday though. Brooks I think did a little better. He seemed to be all over the place.

Final thoughts

- I think we could go with eight on the o-line unless we were hit there by injuries, at which time we could whack an OLB or QB.

- I think one of the final roster calls could be whether we keep Jay Moore or Jason Hill.

Tear it up!
