Is it just me, or are they not even giving Hill the throws downfield? We know Hilll doesn't have the "cannon" that Smith has, but Smith is simply completing 30-40 yard passes, which I know Hill is capable of, very comfortably. I do not quite understand this. They need to give both quarterbacks the same throws.

Although maybe they are using the same plays, and Hill is just not taking attempts downfield....

It's you, Hill cannot comfortably throw a 30-40 yard pass, He can throw it but not comfortably, but it's good that he knows his limits because then he does not go off throwin 50 yard bombs that would be intercepted.

I think your mistaken. Hill can connect from 30-40 yards, as he did several times last year. The passes that he suppposedly cannot make, are the 40+ yard throws on the seam or deep post routes.

Exactly. Anyone remember the 45+ yard throw to VD against Dallas last year? If you go back to see that video, you will see that the pass was PERFECT and hit Davis in stride. great throw.

Alex can throw the 45+ yard pass better but then all the Smith supporters want him to start so that we can have 1 to 4 types of passes a game thrown better over a guy who can throw 14 to 18 types of passes better?

It all comes down to the fact that Hill only lacks one ability and that's the 45+ yard pass whereas Smith lacks much more.

Yeah but in that same Cowboys game right after Manny Lawson intercepted Romo, the 9ers were inside their own 20 (i think it was the 18, i'll have to rewatch my DVR) but low and Behold Hill Throws a pick intended for B. Johnson, cuz it was a weak throw.

Don't even bring up the 2nd Rams game because that Touchdown that Josh Morgan caught was meant for J. Hill.

What's your point on this??

That his arm is weak which is what we have been discussing...
and in the rams game he looked horrible.

It was still a 48 yard pass. And actually Hill looked terrible in the first three quarters. I've always looked at things as "It doesn't matter how you start, what matters is how you end it", Hill threw two TD passes in the 4th quarter and that's all that matters.

Yeah but he does not throw the deep ball comfortably, that was the main point of our discussion earlier. And in the Fourth Quarter that pass was intended for J.Hill. So i have nothing against Hill and If he wins the QB comp i will fully support him, but i think that Smith brings us the Big play opportunity more than Hill. So we shall see.

Wait, so Hill told you that the pass was intended for Jason Hill?

I am not sure what play he is talking about off the top of my head but my guess would be that you could tell based on the way the ball was thrown.

Hes talking about the game winning TD throw to Morgan down the sidelines at St.Louis.... Im sure you know what I'm talking about.

There is NO way to tell whether the throw was to Hill or Morgan. My only point is that Morgan caught it and we won the game.

WOW!

FINALLY! 100 pages of Smith V Hill or Hill V Smith (do not want to get flamed by either side).

100 pages!! What a feat! I'm really proud of you guys!!!

CONGRATS

FAIL ONLY 99 PAGES THERE BUCKAROO
They are doing timing drills today for QBs on 7-7. 3 second time clock and you have to get the ball out. This is awesome stuff for Smith. Could you imagine if he was doing this stuff in practice since his rookie season?

Cool drill.

Cool drill.

Should help his game out. Wonder what happens if they QB doesn't get the ball out in 3 seconds. Maybe each time they go over 3 seconds they run "Pain"
Still only 99 pages...

AAAAAAAHHHH DAMMMIT TO HELL!!!!!

I'm pretty impressed with how Smith is doing in training camp thus far, since he really hasn't played healthy in almost 2 years. Let's hope the jitters don't come back to him in a real game. Nothing is more painful than watching a guy constantly overthrow or underthrow an open WR.

PS - 100 pages yet?

Throwing the deep ball comfortably will come in time with experience, I believe. Check out Garcia, the guy use to have the craziest happy feet I've ever seen in football, now he is much more relaxed in the pocket.

I'm saying lets just stick this year out. And draft Colt McCoy next year in the draft. He is already better than Alex Smith and Shaun Hill but we would make him sit a couple games to learn and not throw him into the fire like we did with Alex and ruin his career.

... and jevan snead is better than colt mccoy.
