Amen ......... How they do in the pre-season games will be much more interesting than the day to day competition at camp.

They are actually going toe-to-toe and playing very well.

Not even that bro, last year was just run so poorly by Nolan and Martz; Two of my most hated coaches in a long freaking time (Don Nelson tops the list though). They just did a horrid job at handling the situation and it seemed so set up from early on.

I gotta say, the more that I hear about Smith, the more i'm getting excited.

I know i may be getting ahead of myself, but for the first time i believe that if Smith can outshine in preseason against Hill, i think he'll have won himself the job. It is the final test because of Hill's reputation as being a gamer.

And yes completely agreed with Method, it actually seems like a real quarterback competition is going on.

im confident in whoever wins the job. but im rooting for alex to show us all and prove all the nay sayers wrong and prove why he was chosen 1st overall.

I haven't been on either guy's bandwagon--and I'll support either of them when it comes to that.

One thing that's noticeable so far: we haven't heard much of the excuse that Hill "just isn't a practice player."

The competition seems to be bringing out the best in Hill, too, which should mean that he'll be a better QB going into the season, as much as anyone.

What a difference from last year, as noted above.

^^ Same here. Whoever starts on game day has my full support. I'm not the kind of fan who's going to boo our own players or root for a player to fail so that I can say "i told you so."

I'm just rooting for Alex to win and continue the success into the regular season. Beating Hill out for a starting job after being on the shelf for 2 years is an achievement in itself.

Exactly. If he was efficient the entire game, then it would not have been close in the first place. To his credit, he does seem to rally in the 4th quarter, but there is a lot of room for improvement in his game, ignoring the deep ball.

I'm not trying to compare Hill to Elway, but Elway used to be the same way (56.9% completion percentage for his career). Hence the name "Comeback Kid". Also, Elway had a rocket arm (which in my mind is not that important), and that didn't equal TD's. His highest TD total in 1 season was 27, and he only threw for over 20 TD's in 6 of 16 seasons. He found a way to win, and that's what made him great. So far........... Hill has found a way to win. I'm sorry fellas, but I speak the truth. I personally don't care who starts as long as we win........ PERIOD! I just think that Hill gives us the best chance.

LMAO, at this being like Star Wars and Alex needs to pass the final test to become a Jedi.
I don't care who wins, I just wanna go to the playoffs

My sentiments exactly. I'm tired of losing!

I see a lot of discussions on Alex's problems with the short pass, but I don't hear any discussion on Hill's problems with inaccuracy. Watching the games last year, I noticed that Hill was very streaky. At times he would be very accurate, and at other times, he couldn't hit the side of a barn. That was why Singletary almost pulled Hill out of that game - and that wasn't the only game that he played that way.

Smith does have problems too, so I am not saying that he is the one that will win this competition, however let's not put on rose colored glasses for Hill, or assume that his only flaw is a "noodle arm".

Watch that Cardinals game-highlight if you want to truly see Hill's streakiness.

People forget he threw a ton of INT's in that game that were called back because of Arizona penalties. He led us back and made it a contest, but he was also the reason we got in the hole in the first place.

Man i totally forgot about those plays against AZ. That's not good cuz the guy could end up being our Starter, the only thing im excited about is that Singletary is truly making this a fair Competition. Remeber when we used to read that only JTO was getting all the first string reps but the starter was still up in the air. Then JTO pulled them Facepalms. I rememeber everytime that mothaf**ker f**ked up it seemed like Nolan and Martz made excuses for him. Like in the opener when JTO threw that pick to A.Wilson but they blamed it on Arnaz Battle for not finishing the route. Thank you Singletary for making us Believe man. And if we dont win alot of games, I remeber someone's post when they said "well we may have lost the Game but our coach will kick your coach's ass". lol im still laughing on that one. and so is my dad when i told him bout that and he's a cowboy fan.

Here is what Matt B. said today about what the QB depth chart might look like this year ( in answe to a question about possibly drafting White in a later round) ...
------------------------------------------------------------------------
These are the scenarios I see going into the season:

1. Hill, Smith, Huard (White?)
2. Hill, Garcia, Huard, (White?)
3. Hill, Smith, rookie (White or other rookie)
4. Hill, Garcia, rookie. (White or other rookie)

----------------------------------------------------------

Looks like Matt has enough sense to know that Hill is the starter and that Alex (if he stays) will be a backup at best.

Yeah, but last year we all thought Hill was starting also. History has shown that these coaches can't decide on their QB. Let's hope Singletary changes this. I have a feeling that unless a QB blows him out of the water, he is not changing Hill's status.

I agree. At least when Martz was here, he knew who his QB would be, regardless of how it ended up to be.

For a new HC, you would think the first thing that would be taken care of is the QB position. But now I'm coming to the conclusion that if Sanchez or Stafford is there at #10 one of them will be our starter.

But then again, you would name your starter right away even if a rookie was drafted. That way if he beats your crowned king, it only makes you and your staff look that much better. And if your crowned king does end up starting the season, it would show you made the right decision with him.

I am comfortable with how Singletary makes his decisions. Martz did know who his QB was going to be but his problem was that he didn't know when he should have changed his QB and Nolan didn't have a spine to do anything.

I will be very comfortable if Hill starts with Singletary because Singletary has already shown he won't settle for crap play and pull Hill if needed
.

Very true, which chaps my ass, as to why Singletary hasn't named Hill the starter. After all wouldn't you go into the season with the QB that pretty much adds to the reason that he is our HC??

it seems like alot of hill supporters are afraid of hill even having to compete for the job...dont they have more confidence in their boy
