We need to move the chains and I love the short passing game, but it seems to me you have keep at least a strong medium range option to keep the DB's honest and out of your hair.

What say ye?

DId you even watch the games last year? We weren't doing 5 yard drags and 10 yard hitches all day....

Hill might not throw it 60 yards every game, but thats because you don't need to do that to win consistently in the National Football League. He was spot on last year on his mid range game, which is the most important area of the passing game.

I think that all this talk about Hill's arm strength has been overblow. Sure he isn't going to be throwing 60 yard bombs but i think his arm strength is good enough that it isn't going to significantly impede the playbook.

It's not the playbook that's the issue, it's the anticipation of the defense. The only team that got to study up on Hill picked him off three times and lost by one.

Then why didn't Washington's defense shut down Hill?

To bad its only a possible 21 games this season including preseason to superbowl
It seems as though AS is not doing anything special to win the job from Hill just yet. I think Hilll is still the starter. AS is showing good things, but I do not believe the organization is going to give him the job, unless he really surpasses Hill in the preseason games.

I am kind of curious to see how they divide the time in the preseason games. Will they each get a half? Quarter? While the competition is great and all, I would also like to see Davis get some reps...

I am also curious to see how they split the reps! Kinda glad there is no jto type here to just get handed the job.

I don't think Singletary or Raye are really looking for how they play in practice as it seems like they are evenly matched in different ways. It seems to me they will be looking at how they make their teammates play and perform in practice (Leadership) more than anything. I think if one stands out to be Leading his teammates, then he gets the job. Sooner or later, they will be able to notice who should be the starter by looking at how the Linemen, Receivers, and Backs react to either of the two, Hill or Smith.

It's called Mike Martz and his timing patterns.

'aight boyz, lets see what ya got today.
I dont know it´s still even but once again play of the day, smith found bruce this time downfield for an 45 yd bomb for a TD.

In my opinion both men are about even so far in training camp. seems like hill has beat that gamer mentality and doing good things, and smith has showed no holding back on doing what he does best in stretching the field with the long throws.

This is just training camp and it doesnt matter if they both go perfect for every pass thrown, it does come down to how they do in pre-season games. However, if smith translates these same long throws in an actual game then it´s my opinion to those that like it or not that they will go with smith, because hill hasnt done any more than he can already do, and smith brings that element of being to stretch the field more often with precision and a tight spiral, as well as another aspect he has improved on, which is getting the ball out when there´s blown coverage, or even tight for that matter. Earlier Sing, chewed out Davis for a ball that smith threw that sing said he should of caught.

I dont know about you, but this is the first time im actually excited about a real competition.
I still need to wait to see if Smith can do this when he's not perfectly set...you know...the way QBs throw 90% of the time in real games. Throws are rushed, throws are made off balance, etc.,...from the past, if Smith doesn't get a proper set, his accuracy blows.
