hate, hate, hate, hate, hate. You must be a PETA member because although Vick has spent nearly two years in the pen, even a blind man can see that his talent is far superior to that of any quarterback on our team.
I sure hope that was sarcasm. Even I know Shaun Hill is better in the NFL than that bum.
No sarcasm. While I don't know you or how much you know about football, I do know that Vick's on the field talent has never been a matter of question. Unlike Shaun Hill, who is currently entrenched in a heated quarterback competition with the legendary Alex Smith (there's your sarcasm).
If you like Vick so much and dislike Smith so much, howcome Vick has made Smith's 2006 rating his own career average? I'll say this for Mike Vick: Dude is consistent.
Contrary to your assumption, I like all of our players. In fact, I am hoping Alex Smith is named the starter by the third pre-season game. IMHO he has more upside, better intangibles, and a stronger arm. I think Shaun Hill is a gutsy warrior who will do whatever it takes to win. But frankly, his lack of a deep ball makes it too easy for defenses to put 8 men in the box and minimize the effectiveness of our best offensive player, Frank Gore.
Now if we’re taking statistics into consideration, Alex Smith has had one good season in his 4 year career (in statistics, what we call an outlier). That would be in 2006, where he had a QB rating of 74.8 with 2,890 passing yards and 16 passing TD’s. Michael Vick's’ career QB rating is better than that at 75.7 and in 2006, his last season but not his best; he had a QB rating of 75.7 with 2,474 passing yards and 20 passing TD’s (not even counting his record setting rushing numbers). O and not to mention, Vick led the Falcons to the playoffs twice, including a conference championship game, has three Pro Bowl appearances, and ranks third among quarterbacks all-time in career rushing yards. So yes, Vick is a consistent above average passer with a couple of playoff appearances while Alex Smith is a consistent on the injury report with one good season (blame Nolan all you want).
Whether or not he is slime or a bum, I don’t think is for any of us to judge. He made a huge mistake, and undoubtedly has paid the price. Now he has the same right as every free man to make an honest living without prejudice. Coach Sing has made it clear he agrees with that.
I am a realist and realize that we have to make the best of what we have. But to say that Vick's’ talent wouldn’t be an upgrade to our QB position is incorrect. The reality is Vick will play football in the NFL again and will make a team better. Why not ours? He probably won’t cost us more than Nate Davis.
