This is what the owners want and it's not good. They're diluting their product to the point where no one starts a full season and injuries have too much to do with the outcome. What happened to KC when Mahomes went down? When big money starters go down they're replaced with a minimum wage player-think Bo Nix out of the playoff. There are enough injuries already and an 18th game will make it worse. 2 bye weeks and the Super Bowl gets played in late February. The season needs to end in a timely manner so that the fans go home wanting more. The NBA and NHL are winter sports which end in June-weird. The owners don't care about the product they're putting out, just the money coming in. Perennial losing teams make a big profit so there are owners who don't care if they lose. Give the big money to a player and he can do 3 things: Get injured, get in trouble with the law and 3-quietly quit as their production goes down. They can also become a cancer-sound familiar? It's a dangerous sport and I can't blame a player for looking out for themselves. The owners are doing it. One big hit and it could be more than a career. Their answer is next man up.
