Rams Shocker

while not on the par as our Trey Lance blunder, it's not far off... such a warm fuzzy feeling to see the lambs deliver a self inflicted wound like this

Pretty sure the Rams drafted Simpson with the intentions of sitting him for a few years like how Aaron Rodgers or Jordan Love did. After all, Matt Stafford is 38 years old, it's not like Stafford is 32. Hate on the Rams all you want, but at least they didn't spend three 1st round picks on a crap QB. I bet Simpson turns out to be much better than Lance.

Meh . Ty has above average arm talent . Rodgers and Love were considered elite arm talents out of college .

It wouldn't take much to be better than Lance, seems like they could've made better use of the pick to help get over the hump while Stafford is still there.

I'd say Ty Simpson is almost identical to Brock Purdy, same mobility, height, weight, excels at mid range passes and even their 40 yard times are similar. It's Brock Purdy 2.0. In a re-draft, Purdy is no doubt a 1st round pick.

So the plan is to draft a guy who only has what? 13 starts in college....to sit him for 2-3+ years and wait out the end of Stafford, and then let him run wild? I think the Rams coulda got a Simpson-esque type player in almost any draft if that was their plan.....and take him late in the first/early 2nd where he was projected to go.

Yup, why not? It's not like it's unheard of. QB's seems to benefit from sitting.

They got over the hump 4 years ago. We're the ones who have to get over the hump, It's been 30+ years now.

The recent trend is most certainly to trot the guy out there on day 1, and I can't think of a scenario where a guy had as few starts as Simpson, and then had to wait 3 years for NFL action. Aaron Rodgers had over 20, but there was a real chance he was the #1 overall pick. Jordan Love had over 30 starts in college. Simpson is gonna have very, very little action if that is the case. It makes no sense to take him because there really is nothing special from what I've seen - McVay got rid of Goff, so I'm not sure what he sees in Simpson - when the Rams were a few plays away from making the SB. The Rams are in win now mode and that high pick makes sense to help the team now....not in 3 years when in all honesty, there could be a dozen 'Simpson-type' QB's for the taking.

If you're a Rams fan.....are you down with that choice? I'd be pretty livid if I cared.

Don't think McVay sees much in him based on his reaction.

Yeah...he was pissed....or so it seemed. I haven't kept up on that situation but now it seems that Simpson is saying that they had 'secret talks' before the draft with McVay, when the original story was that nobody from the Rams were in contact with Simpson. Whatever the real story is, it's a terrible pick from the Rams standpoint unless he truly turns out to be a bonafide excellent QB. Won't know until Stafford retires or his back breaks.

What recent trend? Not everyone has a Matt Stafford in front of them or a Brett Favre or a Aaron Rodgers. Trey Lance had fewer starts and the 9ers wanted to make him sit and only put him in on certain packages. Just saying, at least the Rams didn't have to spend three 1st round picks to get Simpson regardless if he turns out to be good or not.

Pretty sure they expected 99% of Rams fans to be pissed off at the pick. But I'm on the outside-looking-in and IMO I think Simpson is gonna be a decent QB in this league. If I'm wrong who cares that's not my team. lol

It's not an issue really if Simpson is gonna be good....the question is... does he help the Rams now, since they are in full SB mode now. The answer is no. The compounding issue is that he has little experience, and he's gonna wait a few more years?

Again, if you are a Rams fan, and that card is turned in....are you pro or con? The only people spinning this as a good thing for the Rams are the uber Ram fans. That's all you really need to know. This was an opportunity lost, and a poor pick.

It only makes sense if they know Stafford is done after this year.

I thought they were gonna extend him a couple more years.
