RIP Iron Mike

Damn RIP

The 80s battles vs Chicago were just legendary. They have some dogs on the other side..kind of like 49ers/Hawks of today. He was a tough SOB and he also got into it with fans if I remembered it correctly. RIP Coach.

The Niners still won most of the games against Chicago. The only time they were solidly beaten by the Bears was that 1985 season when the Bears won by 2 scores. Other than that the Niners usually came out on top. The Niners defense during that period was usually in the top 3 and they had a much better offense than the Bears. That was the difference. The Bears offense wasn't great even when they won the SB. They had Walter Payton but nit much else. Payton was done by the 1987 season. Of course the Bears didn't have Montana and Walsh either.

Very true. In the 80s, I felt the Giants were a far bigger threat than the Bears ever were, and there is plenty of evidence to back this up.

The Giants were a better team overall on both sides of the ball plus they had better coaching with Parcells and Belichick. That Bears 46 defense kind of caught the rest of the league off balance. Eventually teams learned how to contend with it and Buddy Ryan left to be a HC.

A bum since when
Harrison Jr to Lions ?
Why are they trying to trade Marvin Harrison Jr? He has enormous talent. The team is really bad. Rookie year numbers were pretty good. Year 2 he was injured. But a healthy year and a quality QB and you are looking at 1,000 yards and 10 TD'S.

I don't get this move. He was a very high pick.

As mentioned above, the Parcells/Belichick Giants were a much harder opponent for the Walsh/Seifert 49ers than the Ditka Bears ever were.

He's done nothing really. The AZ. HC. Wasn't he from the Shanahan tree, offense oriented?
Prediction: If he continues to flounder his 5th year option will not be picked up and he could end up here in a one-year-prove it deal as Evans hits the exit. Btw-he sure is ugly. We got handsome big-star guys like Warner and McCaffery.

A harder opponent for a longer period but no one was stopping Ditka in '85. That silly video was offensive but they backed it up.

This is typical of a bad organization and the moves they make. When they struggle they start trading away their best players so they can draft more of the same type of player instead of surrounding what they have with better talent. Look how many teams struggle year after year even when they keep drafting the top tier players. They never get the mix right. I remember when the Lions drafted a WR in the first round 3 straight years when Matt Millen was the GM. The didn't have a really good QB to throw to them but he didn't care.

Oh definitely. We got the Bears numbers other than the 85 Bears but still a tough bunch. The Giants, were just so good every year. Banks, Marshall, LT, Burt, Carson etc. on that D. Man, that decade of football was bad ass. We could have at least gotten 1-2 more Trophies.

Jacoby Brissett is the QB. They have no surrounding talent. It's ridiculous. If he had Purdy or Mahomes he would be doing great.

1) 62 catches - 885 yards - 8 TD's - Rookie year.
2) Injured and didn't play all games - Incomplete and hard to measure.
3) They want to trade him.....

Project out a healthy year and non rookie. You are looking at 1,000 + and 10 + TD's. Hardly a bust. This is so dumb. The rookie year numbers are fine. Nothing wrong with that for a rookie. A competent QB, non rookie year, completely healthy and he can have the numbers I suggested. This makes zero sense.

They would probably be having the same results with JSN.

Brissett is a bridge qb but not terrible. That cards team does have talent, their skill players are really good.

it's just a cheap poorly run organization. No one's ever heard a good thing about how the cards operate. Their owner is a cheap scum bag that doesn't care about actually winning, if it costs him anything more than the bare minimum.

Depending where Marvin Harrison Jr goes, he could absolutely ball out. Hes just mentally checked out and going through the motions. If he gets a quality organization with a QB - dude can ball, IMO.

Exactly what I was saying. Other than QB they do have some very good skill players but like so many teams they don't build around them. Some teams just get too enamoured with the big name skill guys and forget that they can't show those skills without support. I will always be a firm believer in not draftng a QB in the first round or any other skill players until I have the trenches on both sides filled with solid talent. Too many skill players (especially QBs) get wasted beause the O line is bad and the defense can't stop the other team and get the ball back. If they draft a QB first and then try and build the Oline he could be beaten up so badly that he never reaches his potential. It's a common story in the NFL.
