One of my favorite football facts of all time, was that Butkus won the defensive player of the year on a team that went 1-13. How good do you have to be to win that award while your team almost goes winless? I don't think that'll ever happen again.
Truly one of the greatest players in NFL history.

Nobody under 30 will remember this, but this dude was everywhere on TV and commercials back in the 80s and into the 90s. He was kind of like Merlin Olsen, only not quite as saintly on TV. Like Merlin Olsen, he was a menace on the field and an all-time great.
