Baker Mayfield Released by the Panthers

Would he be an upgrade to Purdy? Could the Niners afford him? Would the Niners want him with the baggage he might bring?

We're not claiming him at 4.8mil, maybe if he passes waivers and at the vet minimum. Backup QB to Purdy.
Do not want.

Did not even think about that... there is some familiarity there.

Rather Baker than Josh Johnson.

Rather Baker than Josh Johnson.

Is it the mental stability? The maturity? Or perhaps the ability to play within a system?

IDK

Logically Baker may be the best back up available.

he is just so punchable though....

We're in a desperate situation. Options are limited. Bet people will be more open after the Bucs defense gets done with Brock.

Good thing Bosa doesn't have veto powers because he's by far the best QB available

Mayfield played in a Shanahan-style system with the Browns, and had some decent years there. I would be fine with Baker as a back-up, incase Brock gets figured out and decimated against better defenses. The Dolphins have one of the worst D's in the league, so let's see how he does against the Bucs much better D. Given the option between Josh Johnson and Baker, I would take Baker all day long. Josh is better with the clipboard, but we would have a better chance with Baker.

Also, CMC was a teammate of his for a good portion of the year. If he vouches for him as being a good teammate, then why not? However, if CMC says he sucks as a teammate and would be a cancer to the locker room, just forget about it.

It would be impossible to get Baker Mayfield off waiver wire I think the Seahawks would try to claim him also or the Raiders there's gonna be some interest he was a former #1 draft pick
There is probably a little more there than Brock Purdy and Josh Johnson. There is some arm talent there. He was the #1 pick. We have nothing to lose. Pick him up. Sign him.
