How do you know freeman is not his floor? How do you know mac's ceiling isn't Brady? You don't know. I don't know. Nobody knows. We will know in a few years. But right now it's just opinions.

I don't know about Lance's ceiling but I know this thread is about Lance and not Mac Jones.

What I do know is that Josh Freeman didn't have the intangibles that Lance possesses. Kid was a big arm, big body but not much else including his love of things outside of the football field.

I guess it's possible Lance turns into someone who prefers hitting the clubs vs prepping to play QB in the NFL but that certainly doesn't sound likely what we know about him.

So the comparison and in the statement where he's likely Josh Freeman is ridiculous. But not surprising given the poster.
We probably aren't going to lnow how good Trey is until next season and realistically until 2023. You need to give a QB at least a full season to learn and develop. No matter how he looks next year (good or bad) I'm not making any determination until I see what he does in 2023. I've seen too many QBs look good in their first year and be average for their career. I've also seen the opposite where he struggles early on and later becomes a solid QB. They say Trey seems to be a quick learner which is great but he didn't play for almost 2 years.

Hey man Freeman is big, strong armed and black failed QB so you know that's what Lance will become. That's how a read that stupid "comp" freeman had Greg Schiano as his HC his last couple yrs, that's not helping anyone. He reportedly has some issues above the neck on and off the field. I don't think Lance has any of that.

I agree the original poster is about as bias as it comes in here regarding the QB position. Honestly I could give two s**ts if Fields (who I wanted most) or Jones becomes good or bad…they don't play for SF.

Start Trey. And I've been one of Jimmy's biggest supporters.

This is where I'm at.

A majority of his instincts and development will have to come in the next couple years. IMO, his college career probably didn't do him a whole lot of favors, as far as being NFL ready.

I just hope the blank slate approach translates well to Shanny's "qb-killer" system.

In the NFL, a SINGLE weakness can be exploited until...you're done.

This worries me as well. Hopefully Trey is willing to cuss Kyle out once in a while and not let Kyle turn him into a robot like he did Jimmy.
Looking forward to watching another episode of Star Trey this Sunday

Aactually not a bad comparison at all. Two big, raw, strong armed guys with goofy hair who are struggled to adjust to the league.

Let's look past the terrible grammar there and dig into the part where you think Lance has struggled to adjust to the league before even getting through his first preseason?

Would love to hear more on why you think he's struggling…

oh and goofy hair?

Judging from his performance in his first preseason game and the reports from writers and fans. It appears that he's lost.

You dont have to take it personal. It's just a football team and I'm assuming you have no relation to Trey. Freeman had outstanding measurables and checked all the boxes, he just couldn't put it together, it's not a bad comp.

Just wondering what your reasoning is
Trey will be great but the problem is that we have a team that can win the Super Bowl NOW. Minus DeFo but far much better talent on offense this time around.

No need to stunt the progress. Let Trey work on catching up to our speed rather than us slowing down for him.

it will come in time.

It's a troll comp because the guy turned out to be dogs**t. Don't be so naive and pretend that you can't understand why fans don't like the comp. Obviously, if Trey was comped to someone more successful people wouldn't complain. So let's not pretend that you can't understand why people are upset. I think you're smarter than that.

Also, never start a sentence with and.

You are actually a troll and a crybaby to boot. I should have never apologized to you and stuck with my instincts about you. You back pedaled so fast I almost felt bad.

So I should compare him to Josh Allen? Patrick Mahomes? I personally feel he's closer to Freeman right now. I'm sorry if that offends some fans.

We're actually closer in opinion than you think, for me the bolded part is what it comes down to.

We've seen that he's a fast learner and really hard worker. Let's just say that it comes in Week 10, would that be good enough for you?

We know that Kyle can adapt (and has to) around his QB's, and we know we have a great D and running game.

What would our perspective records be by Week 10 with a Trey getting up to speed Vs a fairly limited Jimmy?

No agenda, genuine question.
