Dude! This would be 5x worse than Vernon Davis and Trey Lance combined

Lay off my boy Davis! That's where the 85 in my handle comes from

I think Jonny's comments mean that he is open for business in regards to a trade... if they wait until training camp when Purdy is back taking snaps TL's trade value plummets and we get nothing for him

I have a feeling this gets done. I smell a 2nd this year. A 2nd-4th next year that has potential to be a 1st

Houston, Tennessee, Jets, Miami are the leaders in the clubhouse right now to make this trade...

I promise there have been exponentially more people who think Lance wont ever be a good QB than people who think Lance should 100% be our starting QB.

As far as the some "who have expressed their displeasure on what they've seen so far" goes....dont you think with how limited the sample size is, that those people are being incredibly unfair? I feel like those people dont understand what it takes to develop a QB. They would have wanted Peyton Manning shipped out of town after his rookie year. Everyone who has their mind made up on Lance, or even are doing what you are saying, are being incredibly unfair IMO.

That's far from calling him a bust.

of course it's a small sample size. That's why I said, "on what they've seen so far". Just like how some folks have expressed their displeasure on what they've seen so far with players like TDP and Kinlaw. Yes, different positions and draft capital used to acquire. Point is at all you can do is base opinions are on what's available to date.

if Lance comes out guns blazing and playing like Brock and folks are still criticizing then that's something else.

Saying "he is a bust" and "he will never be a good QB" arent the same thing? Splitting hairs if you think they are different.

Again, expressing displeasure is one thing. But that isnt really whats happening. People are making definitive statements on what he WILL be, which is very unfair. To your point, I think it would be unfair to make any definitive statements on TDP also. Kinlaw, not so much haha.

Don't let the FO off the hook for things that were known before they drafted him.

Just keep in mind there were reports that people in the building thought he was more ready to start than Mac Jones, and based on their public comments they were open to starting him over Jimmy if he beat him out for the job.

They didn't necessarily think he was the project others did... which we'll likely never know until the decision costs someone a job. Either way, they are still ultimately responsible no matter how you slice it.

are we talking trading Trey?

I just don't see it. We got him under contract. The contract is cheap for a QB in the starting conversation. He has 2023, 2024, 2025 (option), that's a lot of time here for us to see what he can become. Plus if BP is out week 1, you would be starting Darnold almost by default and some rando as QB2 would dress for the opener.

The cap penalties and dead money are extraordinary. He's not going anywhere this season unless the return is vast. Next year it becomes easier to trade him, and if Jordan Love remains trash, maybe he goes to Green Bay (assuming (a) he doesn't become really good during this time with Purdy injured or (b) Purdy comes back and remains effective or (c) Darnold doesn't surprise the world and undo the first five years of his career).

Hasn't Lance been working with a trainer this off season? (Not saying he hasn't in the past) I think I saw that somewhere, anyone know who it is?

Since he will be getting a lion share of the reps this off season - anxious to see how he looks.

i wanna see how he looks when A) not playing in a monsoon B) has george kittle C) has CMC

He's working with Quincy Avery in ATL. Avery works with Watson/hurts as well. I'm sure Lance will also be in south CA working at 3DQB as well (John Beck/house and Co.)

Thanks NY. Those names helped cause I wanted to read up on them.

watson is probably the only qb in the league I hope fails. 1. Eff him 2. Eff the browns for that dumb contract

What's funny is if he's wasn't a sexual predator. He's probably a 49er

Gotcha. I don't remember back then if you were even here. If so..... our back and forth had to be worse than our anyone but Lance and anyone but Mac debates

Trading Trey makes a lot of sense assuming Purdy is ready by week 1, pick ups where he left off, and will stay healthy for all 17+ games. We should always operate under the impression that the best case scenario will always happen.

Definitely a good chance I think.

I truly believe this and I would have been OK with it. I had him top 5 QB before all of that

maybe I'm old school but I like my qb to play qb and not option back. Lol I don't want someone who is a decent passer and decent runner - essentially running wildcat every play.

Kyle agrees with you!

Mac Jones was even worse early on. He got up to below average by the end of his rookie year and has remained there. Trey probably would have been that good by now. His injuries played a big role in his development. But BROCK PURDY is they reason why it's more than likely we'll never realize his potential here. Assuming Purdy returns and is still effective, of course. And you know what? That's fine. I'll take it.

Less than 2 mill if traded

Mistakes happen! Look at Solomon Thomas and Kinlaw! So we bet the farm and lost? Get a third rounder for Trey and move on. It sucks but it happens!

We ain't lost this one yet.. he didn't play year 1 by design and year 2 he didn't get 5 full quarters of play
