Trey_ning wheels is not going to start ahead of a franchise QB like Brock Purdy. He's done. Taysom Hill is what he will be for us. A slash once in a while QB for gadget plays. Who is mostly 2nd string at best. Yes we gave up too much for him.
Not going to argue that we gave up too much. In hindsite yes we did. But at the time i promise you that almost everyone would have done that deal to move up to 2 and draft Zach Wilson. And the majority in here approved moving up for Lance or Fields.
Way too early to say he's done completely. But I think he's done for us, barring a Purdy injury of course. Doubt we can trade him, but for a 1st or more, I would. Use that money to sign Moseley and draft a RT or C.
Wouldnt be shocked if he becomes a pretty good qb for another team down the road

There was no one worth moving up for beyond #1 and even that is debatable. Zach Wilson and Fields went to teams with way way less talent, Trey had success served to him on a silver platter along with 2 chances to take the job in 2021 and could not beat out an average at best Jimmy G.

We'd be better off signing Jimmy G to backup and trade Trey for a 2nd, at least try to recoup one of the wasted picks.
Hell no.
We are done with Jimmy forever. Thank God.

According to Kyle the plan was to run Trey so teams had to account for it. We don't know what a "pocket passing Trey" would have been because Kyle purposely called a different (QB running) offense for Trey, not because Trey can't pass well.
That's exactly what RG3 claimed Kyle did to him too. Ended similarly.
Kyle only made Trey run as much as he did because he could not execute the scheme's short passing game and the run plays were the only effective short game plays Trey could execute at the time. His release was too slow

Absolutely wrong. This idea he " couldn't execute the scheme's short passing game " is laughable. What does that even mean. There is ample video of Trey throwing short passes and dump offs. You keep repeating this fake news in every post. What's the point, it's just generic rubbish.

I tend to agree, I don't think Trey is particularly good at the shorter/intermediate throwing. You need timing, quick release, quick thinking ect. I'm not convinced he has that. Jimmy G has that in abundance, he just can't do anything else. You we could merge the 2 QBs….
ultimately, purely from an analytical stand point, the odds are really stacked against Trey. Limited experience of throwing in college due scheme/covid, and now in the pros he's not had much game time either and not likely to anytime soon. That is very difficult to overcome, and even if he does, and reaches his full potential(I doubt that's likely at this point) I'm not really convinced he's going to be that good anyway. I've seen nothing from him other than a good physique that's says to me "franchise QB"
Purdy on the other hand, oozed quality as soon as he laced up his jock strap and hit the field. Lance just isn't close to him at this point, Purdy is way ahead of him. Could Lance have bigger upside? Maybe? Maybe not.

Lance has lost years of development, in Division 2 and Pro. His running was his strength, supposedly, but all we ever saw were straight-ahead off-tackle runs. He did not seem to be elusive and had a wind-up before passing. If the team can get a two or three I'd jump at the chance.

Yeah Brock is just going ballastic. I have nothing but admiration for what he has acheived in such a small timeframe. There is no arguement from me that he is way ahead of Trey but I don't agree that Trey is as bad as Jimmy's cheer squad is making out. I know it's just payback for all the s**t jimmy has copped on here ( not from me ) but it's getting old and boring.

What money? Trey's contract is fully guaranteed so he's already going to be paid by us regardless.
I'm one of Trey's biggest fans, and I still think he can end up better than Purdy, however it is unlikely he's going to get the chance with how far ahead Purdy is.
We may as well keep Trey developing behind the scenes, let them compete, and have a great backup whichever way it goes.
One thing I will say is that if Trey was playing at this level we'd have crowned him, so Purdy deserves the same.

At this point mods need to put a couple of these guys on TO or just lock the thread. They are repeating the same crap multiple times per day and aren't adding anything. At least lock the thread until there's some new news regarding Trey and his injury.

It has got nothing to do with Jimmy G. Trey has not lived up to his hype. He was the 3rd pick in the draft. A guy picked that high needs to hit the ground running and balling (like Purdy did). You cannot expect a SB caliber team to wait around for him for a couple of years to "develop". All the stats show he was completely underwhelming with the odd glimpse of him landing a rocket ship deep pass. Someone else said it above, and it is true, Trey was the No 3 QB on the roster this year. He did not even get better than JG, which Purdy did immediately. Depth on the roster this year was Purdy, JG, Lance, Sudfield and then Johnson. Those are the facts.
