Not sure what this begins lol. This is what every single team does, including us, CJ and Mullens both took snaps with the first team during the off season.

We've had a real QB in Garoppolo if you've watched closely. Now, we'll see how Lance does. I'm rooting for him as much as the next Niners fan...let's let him learn, develop & take a real NFL game snap first. I'm looking forward to seeing him in the preseason and perhaps he'll get in for an occasional play this season. He's played what, one game over the past 16 months.

He's alright when healthy, but yeah, I don't mind keeping Trey on the bench until he's Ready to take the league by storm.

If he's ready why wont shanhan give him the keys?

...bc coaches - like to treat shiny new QBs with kids gloves. They think it somehow helps their development if they sit for a while. That works for some QBs - it doesn't work for some. Hope Shanahan doesn't follow the typical mold and trusts what he is seeing on the practice field and in preseason games.

imo Lance needs to play this season and the earlier he plays - the better it will be for not only the future of this team but for this year as well.

HE doesn't need to play. He hasn't even felt top tier college speed. Let him get acclimated first.. then maybe towards the end of season he can get reps

See I just do not agree. Matt Ryan and Cam Newton lit it up their rookie years. Falcons did go 11-5 and lost wild card round. That would most likely be the trajectory if we start rookie Trey Lance at best. Panther's went 6-10 and missed the playoffs. This would also be a viable path. We want a SB this year while Trey develops. We don't want a wildcard appearance. Trey may be more physically gifted than Jimmy right now, but Jimmy knows the NFL. He knows these NFC West teams. He has perspective and can call an audible that Trey might not see out there.

Jimmy is a good QB and we shouldn't rush Trey out there because we want to see the speed. Let's be honest, that is what we are dieing for. A mobile QB who can throw well. It will come, but be patient.

About what? Man, you're miserable. This should be an exciting time for Niner fans
I have no idea if Lance will be the QB we want or if he'll be a bust. Whichever way it turns out, they were right to move up and take him. Sometimes you need to take a chance on something or you go through life wondering about what could have been.

Kyle knows he could probably go his entire career with QBs like Jimmy or Cousins. Guys that are reliable (when they're playing) but not spectacular. They make occasional good plays and a few bad ones but rarely any that have defenses wondering how he pulled that one off. He could have been conservative and stayed with that type but when his career was over he would have been left wondering how good his offense might have been with a more dynamic QB threat. They took the chance and now he'll find out. If it doesn't work then at least he'll know that he's better off with a QB like Jimmy. If he does work out then the league is in trouble.
