Winning a SB is about a full roster and coaching staff…Not one or two people. Obviously certain positions have more impact but you need everyone to do their job.

Jim Kelly would be a SB winning QB if not for his kicker. Brady has less rings if not for the guys around him. Eli Manning without some ridiculous catches and a loaded DL isn't a super bowling winning QB etc etc.

for me it's about how you played on the field.

Yeah we'd all love pro-bowlers everywhere. If we didn't invest money at DB this off season people would be b***hing at that all the same.

you don't need elite talent at OG. You can't have Joe blow from the XFL either. Invest more into OT/C imo.

We got 3 to 4 OL changes come WK1, that takes some time to get continuity. Might not be pretty beginning of the year….It's wild how much people put into preseason games. If Lance crushed it they'd laugh and say it's preseason all the same.

Yup. I also believe in T/C philosophy, guards don't need to be great if you those 3 pieces around them are good.

C does need to be a bigger priority though, I hope that we will go after a top C next season either through the draft or FA, if Brendel isn't the answer.

Erik McCoy. If there's one guy that fits the 9ers to a T coming available it's him.

Maybe the Niners need to go to a fantasy league where fans can pick the roster.

Yeah, the O-Line wasn´t really impressive for the first half of last season. Same for the Defense by the way.
I think the Defense will be way better specially on the pass rush at the beginning of the season and that will help Trey Lance a lot.
Kyle will work his magic on the run game.

To be fair he isn't actually like that for the team, just the o line. Him and his buddy have convinced themselves that the trenches are where every game is won. Matt Stafford had little effect on the NFC title game, it was all about the time he had to throw.

If Command could have the choice of Josh Allen or Quentin Nelson there is zero chance he picks Allen. Or Aaron Donald. Dime a dozen.

Second, it's Lynch who should be praying, I could give two s**ts if Lance is a bust, I'm not the one who spent three 1st round picks and some change on him nor am I a Trey Lance fan. With all the expectations around here and the back and fourth arguments about past 49er QB's, only way I turn into a Trey Lance believer is if he helps the 9ers win the Super Bowl. Other than that I could careless about what he does during the season.

He's comparing a horrible pass into triple coverage for Jones…in preseason. It doesn't mean much, but if people are cool with s**tting all over Lance in here over a couple preseason games, then the same should apply to Jones?

why can't you be a Lance fan? He's the starting QB of the team you invest your time in. Why can't you support him? It's one thing to have years of film and being on this team for a while to then criticize a player…but a kid like Lance? Come on dude.

So if he plays good football then you could careless if they don't win a SB? So you feel that way about every single 49er player too, correct? You don't care about Kittle,Trent, Bosa right?

what's the point of talking in here if you don't care?

What's wrong with not being a Trey Lance fan, tell me where you a fan of Kwame Harris?? Sucks when people tell the truth here it seems. To me it's better than me telling you, yah I wasn't a fan then but I'm a fan now. I've never liked the Trey Lance pick and I've stated that before.

Just stating my position on Trey Lance that's all.

I think the OL could actually be worse this season.

Banks, Brendel and whoever Is expected to play at RT seems like a downgrade to who we had there last season.

As for the Defense, I'm expecting to be even better this season and that's why I think we'll still make the playoffs, regardless of the struggles I expect from Offense early on through the first four games or so.

I agree.

It's been proven since the beginning of time that games are often won and lost In the trenches

The key to winning games is consistent QB play. Pass blocking alone doesn't guarantee that. PFF has studied the diminishing returns on pass blocking.

Watch the Bills this season cciowa and tell me your conclusion is their o line is their key to winning.

We are a super bowl or bust organization since the 80s. No knock on the hard work of our players yet we reserve the highest of status to our champions in most instances. Gore and Willis were the best at their respective positions as far as I can remember in this organization and would be on the all time team but they don't have that shiny ring

Disagree wholeheartedly. Need elite QB and OL. That's the winning combo for a Championship. And you know it.

Elite QB is yes.

Elite QB + moderate to weak OL performance = Superbowl loss.

The Chiefs beat us with that combo. Moderate OL. They did hold the whole game though.

Haha. So true.

They certainly started the year that way but by the time they got to the playoffs they were playing as a higher unit. But it helps when officials don't ever call holdings on you...a lot.

Isin't it also weird that QBs can have HORRIBLE big games that we constantly excuse.....but the answer to a VERY GOOD OLine having a subpar performance is to upgrade the line??

I notice you make reference to their "weak performance",....and you tie that into the need to upgrade. LoL. But somehow the QB escapes this. Why?

All players can have weak performances. This isin't an unknown or anything.

I can understand not being a Lance fan at this point since he hasn't had much playing time. It's hard to have a strong opinion on a player that hasn't been the regular starter until this season and has barely played in the pre season. I think 49er fans at least owe him a full season before they form their opinion. Jimmy got 4 years (2 injured) so we saw enough of him to know what he could and could not do. We don't know yet with Trey.

CC, I don't think anyone believes that you can win games without winning the trenches. Neither O line in the NFCCG played well but someone had to win.

9ers4eva, to say that Stafford had little to do with winning the NFCCG is not accurate. His line was giving up a lot of pressure. He was sacked on some key downs and they gave up 10 pressures in the game. They also averaged 2.4 ypc. Stafford had a lot to do with winning that game, including hitting the "layups" which did not happen for us even though there were a handful of them there to be made.
