I disagree. You have to also look at the pick they used for him. Micah parsons was defensive rookie of the year. The pick after was slater who had a fantastic year at a position of need.

If trey turns out to be great, then I agree, it was worth it. But it remains to be seen.

That is totally irrelevant given that we swapped spots. We moved up at the cost of two firsts. We still had our 2021 first.

If they hadn't made this deal and had stayed at #12 then they probably would have picked a QB anyway. Parsons wasn't someone they were going to pick because they wanted to get a QB.

Few things come into play when evaluating this move when it's all said and done.

How Trey does as a 49er. If he's a stud then what we gave up for him won't make a damn difference.
What the picks end up being.

As you mentioned from the 2 future 1st rounders we gave away one was the 29th pick. We'll see what next year's pick will be...hopefully 32nd overall.

But assuming it's 25 or lower looking at the trade value chart which actually doesn't adjust for future picks we would be giving away around 2640 worth of value for what was 2200 worth.

And considering future picks tend to be worth about a round less...if we adjusted for that it would drop down to about 1840 worth for 2200 which means in theory when adjusted for the future(and of course it's not clear cut 1 round less but still) we'd come out ahead in draft value.

So let's hope Trey leads us to a SB win and looks great doing it so we can all laugh at anyone questioning the move.

It will become clear to all (fans, the media, etc.) as this season progresses that what we had to give up to move from 12 to 3 was actually exceedingly cheap.

Dolphins get 12, 29, and 32. We get a true franchise QB who can win us Super Bowls. Completely worth it.

Heard from Matt Maiocco via Jerry Rice that he's loving everything about Trey. The big thing he needs to work on is taking steam off balls under 20 yards because he's a "gun slinger." 95% of Kyle's offense is under 20 yards but Rice also added he throws a catchable ball and he developed easy chemistry with him during a commercial shoot.
