I've comped Trey as a more accurate Cam Newton and that will be enough to win a SB or 2

Josh Allen was a lot better coming out. He had a rocket arm. He was big and strong.

Trey Lance was a division 2 running QB. Who missed his last year of football. Which wasn't his fault BTW. But he still lacks reps and experience.

A lot better in what way? Being bigger with a bigger arm doesn't make him better. You've proven time and time again that you either don't know what you're talking about or don't remember things as they happened.

Allen was just as much a projection as Trey was. As you said Trey's missing time his last year of football wasn't his fault. If anything Allen looked worse his last year in Wyoming. He was more proven and even that wasn't a massive difference like was the case with guys like Herbert, Mahomes, Prescott who had well over the 300 attempts Trey had in college.

Allen had just 650 attempts and unlike Lance he didn't miss virtually a whole season of play due to covid.

Trey Lance can't even hold Josh Allen's jock strap. It's not even in the same category. Just stop. Justin Herbert or Patrick Mahomes either.

Josh Allen would disagree with you

Im pretty sure this is what I've been arguing. All these preseason videos, snippets of 1 or 2 impressive plays, are not going to change the doubters minds. Trey needs to get on the field, show what he can do, and make the niners successful. Then and only then will the doubters be silenced. The rest is just noise. Let his play and the niners record do the talking. Not some preseason play against the chargers 4th stringers.

You do you...it just seems pretty stupid to me that the so called "doubters" are so ready to bash the kid given his little experience simply because he hasn't been able to show things yet.

I mean where do we stop? We just call every player ever drafted a bust until they prove us wrong? I guess you can do that but to me that's a stupid way to go about things.

Trey has a lot more things which normally lead to a successful career than he doesn't. Neither side doubting him or praising him has clear cut evidence that the other side is wrong because he simply hasn't played much but one side has a lot more in their favor than the other.

And there it is. Bigger, faster, stronger was all the rage last year.
Trey's still only 22. I grew 2 additional inches after College (about this age). He could actually grow.

I actually think he has a 0% bustability rate. Mainly due to Kyle and supporting cast. His reported work ethic helps for sure.

In our offense with Kyle and the supporting cast I see his floor as a Donovan McNabb type QB.
When Trey proves all his doubters wrong, please continue to hate. Don't eat crow. Don't pretend like you were a fan long before he succeeded. Just continue to hate.

Im not bashing him at all. I'm saying most of the noise is just that, noise. From both sides. I'm really only interested in results on the field in terms of rings. That's the ultimate goal. The only way we know for sure is if he plays. Posting 1 or 2 plays in the 2nd half of final preseason game isnt going to change my mind. For every play like that there are 3 or 4 plays that aren't good.

So, at the end of the day, trey needs to block out the noise and just perform on the field consistently and get this team to win.

What is your definition of succeeding exactly? What is a successful season this year?

While I do agree with your sentiment, I'm just not sure what you consider successful? Super Bowl appearance? 2 NFCC in 3 years? Good stats? 3rd leading win percentage in the NFL? What is your measurement of success?

For Trey this year. 65%+ completion, 2:1 td to int ratio or better, 8.0+ ypa, 10+ wins and a playoff appearance. What more could you reasonably expect from a 1st year starter?

We know a guy who can do that.

Jimmy is an 8 year vet. Trey is a 1st year starter. You cannot reasonably have the same expectations for both. Handing Jimmy the job because of past accomplishments because your young QB is an unkown only prolongs the inevitable. I wouldn't call us a SB calibre team with or without Jimmy. We were damn lucky to make the playoffs and even luckier that our defense and special teams stepped up in the playoffs or this wouldn't even be a debate.
The the o line is more concerning. Besides Williams and Banks, the rest of the o line is a huge question mark.

Yes he's an 8 year vet, but he sat for more than half of that, either behind Brady or due to injuries. People sort of lose sight of this. And in his first full year starting they Make the superbowl. Guys on her talking about how Trey needs snaps to improve, so let's look at jimmys ACTUAL starting snaps before he got to the superbowl.

As has been said by at least one esteemed NFL expert, Jimmy is the guy in the group project that does none of the work, but still tries to take credit for it.
