People do need to chill. Everyone seems to be on the extremes of "he's a bust!" or "oh we should start him because this season is over and we should let Trey learn on the job."

Stay the course. Start Jimmy once he's healthy, compete for playoffs, see how far we can go. Develop Trey behind the scenes. That's really it.

100%

Yep. At least for now. I think the question should be revisited in about 8 weeks.

Other rookies show promise. Name one pass play that Trey impressed. I can't. Not one.

Where was the deep sideline pass? Oh yeah the one to deebo that was out of bounds. I like the kid, good kid, but he's not accurate. He's not a qb. You can't teach accuracy. No touch and no accuracy. The worst combination.

Are you serious? He made multiple big boy passes. That laser to Aiyuk on 3rd and long. That beautiful throw to Sanu as well on the flat. You are tripping.

Ive been Watching football for 40 years. I know a good qb when I see it. He ain't one.

Oh?

Your 40 years informed you that Mahomes was another kaepernick.

Agreed. Time to prepare for the future. No looking back.

Trey gives best chance for playoffs. Jimmy doesn't play like an 8 year veteran.

You have to change the offense to make it true though, which is exactly what they should do and should have done from the start.

We're all just guessing here, but I think it's hard to believe Kyle isn't aching to replace Jimmy. He's not a good player. I just don't know if he's aching over it enough to change his scheme, because he's pretty damn arrogant lol.

It's a tough spot when you spend 3 first round picks and the player can't beat out a guy like Jimmy G straight up. That's not a judgement on Lance either, other than to say he isn't quite ready yet to elevate the team.

He really does.

Hope we stay with him the rest of the way

if they keep running him up the middle, then nope I don't want to see him out there.

If Kyle changes the playcalling as if Jimmy is back there? then yes I wouldn't mind it.

He can't do that though, it's pretty obvious that Trey doesn't know the playbook and it's intricacies like Jimmy.

You don't think he can hand the ball off after taking the snap from under center? Or play action off of it? Lol okay The s**t he did in college more than any of the other rookies and one of the main reasons so many thought he was a good fit for us?

How the f**k you gonna do anything with that?

I thought Lance didn't look awful, especially with how raw we know the kid is and there's definite big upside. Some real nice throws. However, if you're gonna call me biased, then you need to start looking at things like this when Jimmy G is under center.

f**king preach

I think Trey is still too raw as a passer in certain situations, which is why we see things like obvious QB Draw on 3rd and 3's. He also doesn't know yet how to protect himself when running. I'd like to see him get more seasoning before we make The Switch. Because once you make that switch, there's no going back.

Jimmy's limitations aside, I still think he's the better QB when healthy. Across the board, our offense hasn't been sharp, and he gets the share of the blame because he's the QB.

I think Trey can develop into the type of QB that transcends deficiencies in his surrounding cast, but he's not there yet. At this point, they have to really playcall around his own limitations.

Runs like Tebow minus some of the power. I think Tebow doesn't get stonewalled at the 1 on 4th down.

not all heroes wear capes. POTY? lol

Maybe he saw how the team reacted when Jimmy went headfirst into two defenders to get a TD in a preseason game and thought they'd like him more if he did the same.

Do you guys thinks Trey can be like Josh Allen?
Comparable size and had bad accuracy/ mechanics his first year?

Josh Allen's gamelog as a rookie:

https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/A/AlleJo02/gamelog/2018/

There was a not tiny number of Bills fans who believed that their team had drafted a bust after his rookie season.

To be fair every piece of data said he should be a bust. Its a one in a million he somehow became a pro bowl QB. I wouldn't use that to prove Lance is going to work out.

The thing with Allen though there were a number of teams interested prior to the draft kinda like with Lance so there must've been something with Allen that teams thought they could coach him up on.

Can he learn how to throw a tighter ball?

Peyton was proud of all the ducks he threw.

He didn't throw the 100mph.

That drive was awesome, a great stop doesn't change that fact imo.

You are joking right? You better be, otherwise you need to get some glasses.

He's trolling. Bitter Jimmy fan who's happy that Trey is struggling so he can say "I told you so."

Butthurt? It never ceases to amaze me that people are refusing to see facts. The kid is NOT ready!! And damn right I TOLD YOU SO too!!

He's more than ready. Better than watching Jimmy play.

You call this train wreck ready?!

You need to go and watch some Kap tape. That is what you call ready and not this s**te!! Go and watch his first start against the Bears and tell me you were wrong cos you had dirt in your eyes.

Bro, learn to be objective. Trey Lance is a longgggggg way from being ready. Jimmy might not be the second coming, but if you still relish any slight chance of winning more games, then Jimmy is your man and not Trey. Trey will sink the ship.
