Los Angeles Chargers QB Trey Lance Thread

The reporters asked Trey about reported headset/communication problems.... Trey didn't let that be an excuse for the loss.. but did say it was frustrating.

I wonder on which drives that was happening.

I agree with most of what you're saying here. Trey Lance did alright, all things considered. Two things undeniable at this point, Lance seems to ha e a penchant for big plays and he's got a looooonnnngggg way to go processing defences and progressions.

At this point, you have to be a little bit anxious that they screwed the pooch in passing on Mac Jones as he looks quite good.

I mean on the fly without legit practice or experience to compare to veteran QBs? Of course he does.

But it looks like we have to wait a week to see how he truly gauges against other starting QBs and rookie QBs that were given a headstart.

Really on the Mac Jones stuff???? He has 1 win against the s**tty Jets over another rookie qb. Big deal. He throws check downs and short passes like they are going out of style and is fairly immobile in and out of the pocket. Come on mannnnnnn. Laughable

And even his short passes have a lot of hang time. He's throws remind me of Danny Wuerffel.

Much as I like jimmy, I'm willing to let lance start the whole season whether he does good or he sucks.

If he sucks we gave Miami a top 10 draft pick and high 3 round next year. With lots of questions as to why we made that move.

He must win us games
He started to settle in in the 4th quarter. And all looks promising for a guy who hasn't played a meaningful snap since the early 2020 season.

AZ is going to be pretty tough next week especially if Trent and his shoulder cant go. That means we start Moore. A rookie LT protecting his rookie QBagainst Chandler Jones and JJ Watt. Kyle's got his work cut out for him. But I'm hopeful Kyle can scheme to Trey strengths. Kyle almost got Mullens his bag in FA with his body of work with us until he s**t the bed against PHI.

It'll be competitive and if Trey doesn't bail too early and hangs in the pocket. He'll be alright.

I was a fan of this play. Escaped the rush and didn't force the run. He kept his eyes on the receivers and picked up the first down. Sanu was wide open and I wonder if it's partially due to the threat of Trey taking off freezing the defenders.

He's struggled at times feeling pressure from the right side, so this play stood out to me as well. You can also see how twitchy he is.

+5 swag points for 1-handing the snap

ya i really liked this rep

Well he might have to, depending on how Jimmy's MRI goes.

Jimmy thinks it'll be a couple of weeks.
The only thing I'm worried about is Trey's growth being hindered by being thrown into the fray too early. In all walks of life, some guys need that real time pressure in order to learn, other guys need time to watch and learn from afar or else they will develop bad habits that linger.

It would be easier if this team had no expectations, but despite everything, we still do.

If Jimmy G's injury is serious, then the decision is easier. This whole thing is a come to Jesus moment for this franchise.

I know they want him to run but he needs to learn how to slide and get the "get out of injury" card the nfl hands out to qbs. Linebackers in this league will put him out of a game if he runs that stiff and head first too often imo

He is a 49ers QB. The pressure started when he was drafted.
