How does Jones compare to Jared Goff as a prospect?

I feel like I'm living in the twilight zone... Mac Jones is by far the best passer out of the three and 49er fans are on suicide watch just because he's in the conversation
lol, there's people posting in here everyday repeating the same talking points... why don't you just admit that you don't want us to draft him because you don't think he's cool enough?

Alex was not a much better prospect imo. He had a ton of question marks coming out of Urban Meyers spread. Alex would be behind all these guys this year imo.

Alex Smith would've been a great pick, if he had Shanahan calling plays for his first 4+ seasons

Both accurate passers. Mac is ahead in terms of knowing where to go with the ball imo

If he's so far ahead, why isn't he in the conversation at #1 or #2? if we pass do you think he's going 4 or is he going to slide? I don't see him as by far greater than the other top guys like Lawrence, Wilson, Fields at anything, including passing. Thats why I don't want him.

i don't see it
MWC versus the SEC would be the first issue.
The second would be a PE of 164 (in the MWC versus 203 (in the SEC and championship post season).
Hell Smith at 3500ish total yards passing AND rushing compared to Mac's 4500 yards in the air in a shortened Season. ( he was on pace for 5300 yards and 50 TDs)
Their college careers were nothing alike. Two very different conferences, two very different teams, and two very different QBs.

Jones is the type of QB that the Niners defense has owned. So not sure why Kyle would want that QB on his team.

You got about one more of those before i stop reading your post in my head with my grown up voice....
Smith was atop of a subpar draft, and clearly was not the best QB in that draft (and it was not even close). Plus he was coming from a Gimmick System from the MWC. The dude might not even be a second rounder in this draft.

Alex lacked the killer instinct that I think Mac might have.

To begin with Alex wasn't really a deep ball threat in college. Mac Jones was. His deep ball accuracy made his #1 WR into a Heisman winner.
He also is among the leaders of the prospects in check downs and behind the LOS throws...sure he threw deep as did Alex when he had a guy absolutely wide open but do we really know his risk profile?
Sorry, but that is blatantly untrue. Mac Jones threw downfield as good as anyone in college football in 2020.

The careers aren't alike but their profiles are similar. Not to forget that Alex was what, 2 years younger than Mac is right now when he was drafted. The comparison is pretty good

Hmm, sounds familiar.
Alex would definitely go ahead of Jones in this draft though. He was more intelligent and an even more elite processor with actual mobility. He'd probably be the 4th QB off the board.

Sorry i saw careers and thats what i stopped on.....
That is a really good point though.........
I keep forgetting that Mac is older.... We don't know what Alex would have looked like with 3 years in a system...we didn't see that until after he was injured. Circumstance really does matter.

Lol Alex smith absolutely was better than Mac coming out. I don't see why this upsets you
