Why draft jennings when you can wait 20 minutes and sign him as udfa. What's the advantage to the organization?

Despite what people have said about locking him up before free agency, which are very good points for using a 7th for him. I also see your point that a 7th rounder is just one stepped removed from Undrafted Free Agency. Personally, with our WR squad really bolstered by Aiyuk and the returning picks of last year in Hurd and Pettis/Taylor - I would have gone with a DB pick instead. I mean after the 4th round, generally you are picking players who have a slim chance to become starters, and at most -- be good backups. I think Kyle Shanahan, has to realize he has an excellent offensive coaching reputation and on that reputation alone -- I think he can get offensive free agents that would have gone easily to other teams. In other words, I think if Kyle pursued Jennings in free agency, I think he'd have easily gotten him, and if not, there would have been many others of Jenning's level of ability that would have come and signed up with Kyle, in my opinion.

What if another team drafts him?

Right

Unless they didn't have a single CB left on their board worth drafting and people are acting like no one else would have drafted him either? There was 38 picks left.

BEST OF ALL, Kyle Choker may have gotten smarter (just maybe) to go with a much slower WR who even when covered can catch the ball compared to a fluid WR like Sun Screen Pettis who can get open and not able to catch the ball...

since the entire nfl passed on him 7 times is that likely?

Why not cancel round 7? Every team passed on every player 6x by then.
We've got 2 guys playing WR, that seemed to despise the Tennessee coaching staff in Hurd and Jennings.

No wonder they played so angry

Maybe we can hire that coach as a consultant to piss them off before each game...like a "get back" guy.

Butch Jones was hot garbage, completely understandable. They tried to villianize Hurd, but then it came out why he left the team, and Jones was exposed as the liar he is. He got hurd in with the promise of learning the WR position, then turned him into the workhorse back.
Shoot, why waste a 7th when you can sign as an UDFA? What's the point, we should trade every year's 7th round pick go the following years 6th. Then trade those 6th for the following years 5th.

Just keep doing that since 7th rounders are UDFA anyways.

Hell, let's just forfeit our 7th rounders.

It's a pick and it's ours: we have to pick someone even though anyone there could also be UDFA.

I would trade every 4th round pick we have for 2 or 3 fifth round picks!

...or develop an undrafted or free agent player and trade him for a fifth round pick after two or three years.
