Top 49ers WR in the game.

I've said it for years. He's a really, really good player. He has it all except straight line speed. But everything else. From height, weight, reach, length, great routes, excellent hands, will muscle the ball away from defenders, will bulldoze as a blocker, even jump on the loose ball fumble. Just a great player except straight line speed. But he's of the Anquan Boldin mold. All other aspects of the game he has to a high degree.

Numbers were good but he dropped a lot of passes today. Boldin also had incredible YAC as a WR that Juan doesn't.

Jennings gets lots of YAC in games. Mostly bulldozing his way. The few drops were really, really tough catches that he was reaching out for or diving for. I'd put most of those at less than 50% chance of completion. They may go down as drops in the stat sheet. But I don't think many of those were gimmies. In fact they would be incredible if he made some of those.

Half of those drops were in his hands. The Yac difference is also considerable. Boldin was more like a young Deebo back in the day....jennings doesn't have that breakaway speed.

He 'dropped' two balls that were incredibly difficult catches as far as I remember. The high ball in traffic that Mac needed to put out in front of him, and on the last possession another ball that was way out in front of him because the defense disrupted his route.

Overall, a nice game.

Boldin did not have breakaway speed. In fact he's slow in timed speed. Just like Jennings.

Boldin = 4.71

Jennings = 4.72

He may in a game have been able to break tackles well. But Boldin to me mostly just muscled the ball and caught everything with great hands and great routes. You wouldn't call either one fast. But the game isn't always played by track time 40 yard dash.

Yes same mould, but Boldin clearly had better skills in terms of route running and catching the ball.
He looked good today! He might still be hobbled a bit, but he made plays today.

Boldin was like Rice, once the ball was in his hands he was getting away. You should check out his rookie highlights he was dominant. Jennings is not
Hold in, hurt, dropping passes, dejavu…

He had nearly 100 yards, converted multiple 3rd downs, scored a td ....
I love JJ but people forgot how great Boldin was lol.
I will be happy if we production like this out of him every game.

I am sure it will clear up a bit.....The QB and timing matters a ton. Mac missing JJ by half a football on key downs looked a hell of alot like Young throwing to Jerry Rice early on as a part time starter (87/88 era...I forget)

Yeah the ball hit him in the hands kind-of...but the timing is so crucial...that connection was maybe a .25 or .50 second off it seems...hard to put that on JJ...heck last I heard he was not even going to play in that game.....

He did "hope the next n***a good, bye." ...or something like that. He should feel very foolish behaving so immaturely, but these guys are so prideful.

Still, much of the season to go and he can perform like he can and show the league whatever he thinks he deserves.
