Heard on the radio he wanted to go to a more passing offense, anyone know if there's more truth to that?

In his interview yesterday, he said he was excited to be in a more pass happy offense.

Aaaah, caller got it wrong then. Can't really fault Sanders there then. We'll see how pass happy the Saints are after Brees retires.

Can't blame him considering I thought KS under-utilized Sanders the entire time. I guess Sanders felt the same way.

Who's trashing him? I wanted Sanders back too but it's not the end of the world. And yeah I did see us beat the harder teams, you mean like the two playoff teams, vikes and Packers? Beat em both without needing to pass. Almost beat the ravens too without needing to pass much fwiw.

losing him put our passing offense back to square one.... square one was not good. i fully expect the team to get a hot shot rookie with the first pick... i also hope they bring in someone not named mathews as i have little faith in pettis and good win not to mention hurd and esp taylor are huge question marks.

Yep, Deebo, Bourne, Hurd and a rookie aren't going to lead us back to the playoffs either.

Wanna bet?

He meant super bowl. We re not getting there without a quality vet at wr like Sanders.

Apparently no one thought we'd make the super bowl last season too. How did that work out?

had we not got sanders . we never would have got there

Didn't realise you had a crystal ball to see the future
why you feel a need to down play the importance of sanders to our offense . especially if you saw us pre sanders and post sanders. is beyond me but whatever

Same reason you feel the need to down play the teams success last season. Undefeated before we acquired Sanders and we barely threw the ball through the playoffs but yeah whatever.

Our path to the SB was a cakewalk because of Sanders and because of the Vikings upsetting the Saints. We without a doubt lose to the Saints without Sanders and that changes everything as far as seeding goes. We probably drop a few more games without Sanders too. I do not see us going to the SB without making the trade.

Oh yeah, agreed. Sanders was a huge loss and the current crop of inconsistent/unreliable WRs and/or a rookie draft pick are not going to make up for it.

If Jeudy or Ruggs or even Lamb aren't better than Sanders was last year I'll be shocked. He average 3.6 receptions and 50 yards per game. Ruggs and Jeudy could do that in one catch since they're both faster and bigger than Sanders. Sanders was fine for last year but he wasn't a difference maker. There will be a learning curve for the new receivers but what they lack in experience they can make up for in superior talent.

Your way undervaluing what Sanders brought to the table.

The Saints game is on right now and Sanders was a beast for us. This is not a minor loss at all. It will be a good future move but to say any rookie WR will come in and definitely do what he did is foolish.

Exactly. Not sure why some fans think a rookie draft pick will equal what Sanders brought to the team.

Why not? Sanders is what, 33 this year? I don't see why a elite WR rookie like Ruggs or Jeudy couldn't surpass Sanders

Because a rookie draft pick is raw, doesn't know KS's system, needs time to mature and adjust to the speed and aggression of the pro game and has NO playoff or SB experience. So there is no way any rookie brings what Sanders did and I remain dumbfounded by the FO giving up picks for his 4-month rental particularly since they never even made him the focus of the passing game. No wonder he's happier with a more pass-oriented Saints team. If the 49ers whiff on an experienced legit deep threat to replace him then the offense is in trouble.

Sanders loss hurts but Deebo should be better, if Taylor/ Hurt are healthy that's 2 additional weapons, and then we may add Jeudy/ Ruggs as well. I see little reason to be pessimistic about the offense right now. We may have a very young team and with that you can expect some growing pains so I wouldn't bet on Atl's o but we should at least be I don't see a drop off right now l.

Agreed, Sanders loss hurts but the team needs to get better to stay the same. T. Benjamin doesn't make them better and neither will a rookie WR, at least not in the first year or two and that's assuming that the guy eventually pans out and reaches full potential. Deebo will likely be better but he's a slot guy who is not taking the top off a defense. Like the rest of our WRs, his game is YAC not big plays over the top. Any fan relying on Taylor or Hurd to make a significant impact may be in for a rude awakening since they remain huge question marks coming off chronic injury and long layoffs. I'll remind people that our beloved P. Willis was forced to RETIRE early - left the game - because of a chronic foot issue (turf toe) so Taylor coming back to do anything significant following extended time off after his surgery for a 5th metatarsal fracture and subsequent complications, etc is highly questionable, IMO. I'm a foot and ankle surgeon, btw.

He is getting pretty good WR 2 money at 33 years old .
