WR Emmanuel Sanders, BUF

I wanted sanders back for his veteran presence. I expect us to get a WR with the #13 pick to fill his void

We got to the Superbowl and was closed to win it. We knew our receiving corps was a huge weakness in the middle of the season, had we not make the trade and loss in the playoff we would always be wondering if we should have done more.

We also have a bunch of young players who should get better, a lot more than aged players who are on the decline.

I find it hard to believe that signing Sanders with the intention of letting him walk 4 months later was the plan and if it was it was a stupid one considering the impact Sanders had and the picks they gave up for him. His vet presence immediately improved JG, the other WRs and the offense in general and he came close to winning the SB for us so he had more value than one 4-month run at a championship. A rookie draft pick is not going to bring what Sanders did to the team and the remaining WR corp is garbage. Goodwin, Pettis and Taylor are unreliable and/or chronically injured. Goodwin's mind and life seem elsewhere and Taylor's chronic foot injury leaves his ability in serious question. Bourne is a #3/4 at best and we don't know what Hurd will do coming back from injury either. Deebo is an ascending player who had a great rookie year but he's just another slot guy in a sea of slot guys. Unless the FO signs a big time FA deep threat I see the loss of Sanders as a mistake.

It's not that I have an issue about not resigning a 33 year old WR, it's that we gave up a lot for him. It doesn't appear we made much of an effort to resign him. We basically gave up a 3rd round pick for 10 games.

This sends our receiving corps in the sh*tter. Deebo not a number one, pettis is a joke, bourne and goodwin have the dropsies. with sanders we had a legitimate receiver to play off kittle. Now we don't. Even if we pick up a rookie prospect. Because no college team plays a pro offense. This is bad.

I'm surprised anyone has faith in Goodwin showing up. I mean no ill will toward the personal issues he has faced but he is too much of a risk for a football team to count on him.

It did. Although I thought the gap between us and the Ravens was wider, with the Chiefs game, I really thought it was ours after the 2nd pick. I see the full game upload is on YouTube, but I can't bring myself to watch it again. Maybe in 10 years. Or maybe if we win a Super Bowl.

First full season takes team to sb... I'm not ready to give up on him yet

People forget who Drew Brees was before Sean Payton. I liked him with the Chargers, but the reality is, they drafted Phillip Rivers while Brees was on the roster. Brees probably had about as many starts as Jimmy did at the time as well.

We like so much of your posts you are wrong with a few things here.

Sure Sanders was good. He was traded for because our WR collapsed. Goodwin had a bunch of troubles in his private life and wasn't his old self. He was the vet. Taylor and Hurd were out injured. And Pettis got a bad case of the dropsies. There was nothing but Deebo there who was in form and he was still too green as a rookie.

When Sanders came Jimmy started hitting him straight away. Proved that it wasn't because of Jimmy's passes that the other WRs were dropping them. It was because all but Deebo and Sanders had a bad case of the dropsies.

Then Sanders got his rib broken and never came back to where he was. When this happened Deebo stepped up and Bourne got his act together with his hands. So Sanders because less necessary. Don't get me wrong I like Sanders but we couldn't afford him.

You might also consider that Kyle may have decided he was not necessary because Kyle formed the view that it was Sanders who did not get himself in the right position to catch that ball thrown by Jimmy or that he was not sticking to the play that they practiced? After all Kyle knows best and is Sanders who is going and not Jimmy. Look at the lack of respect Sanders was shown when he was crying last week that FO had not even contacted him about his FA contract? What does that tell you about what happened in the Super Bowl? Actions speak louder then words but your failed to pick up on anything because you cant see with your own eyes as you can only base your opinion of what other talking heads might say in the media.
