Deebo can't have it both ways. If he wants to be paid based on what he did last season he has to continue to do what made him that good last season. Deebo being used as a WR/RB makes him elite and deserves to be paid like he is among the best at his position. If he just wants to be a WR, then he can't expect to be paid like the top guys who have done it longer. Still should be paid like a top 10 WR because even without being used as a RB i think he is a top 10 WR. But shouldn't be paid like a top 5 WR if he doesn't want to use the skill that makes him so special.

And honestly I don't get why he wouldn't want to. Yeah I get the longterm security when it comes to heath but players have egos and would love to be the best in the league at their position. The way he was used last season makes him the best in the league because no other WR can do that and perform at a high level doing it.

Deebo's receiving stats were only second to Kupp before he started playing wideback. That puts him in top WR salary. His problem is longevity. He hasn't been in that tier for long.

Exactly why he should get less carries.
When Deebo had most of his production Aiyuk was in the "doghouse", or whatever that was, and Sanu was starting over Jennings.
I'd give Deebo a 3 or 4 years deal max with a good signing bonus. Because I expect Aiyuk to have a breakout season. I actually think Aiyuk is a better route runner than Deebo and more durable. So once it's time to pay Aiyuk big money, grant Deebo wish and trade him away to a bad team.

I still don't understand why everyone is keeping the reason for Deebo wanting out such a mystery? Obviously, all parties have agreed not to say anything but why? What terrible or silly reason requires so much secrecy. We've survived drugs, child abuse, spousal abuse, gambling and just about every other thing that players have done. Just tell us the reason. I want more money. I like Jimmy more than Trey. I don't want to play in the backfield anymore. Kyle has bad breath. Levis is to hot. Whatever. We can handle it. Being secretive about the whole thing is much worse than the actual reason.

Because its media speculation and within the team means nothing.

Yup..after the speculation about Mac Jones last year, the front office under Lynch and Kyle have made it plain they don't give a f--- what the media is "reporting." When they have news, they will announce it in their own time. Frustrating as fans because we want this done, but I can respect this approach. Also players can trust the team won't go blabbling or burying them to the media

Agreed, this isn't the Baalke/Harbaugh era where we had leaks after leaks after leaks, backstabbing, etc..... This regime is much much better, Jed has gotten much better being hands off football wise, letting Lynch, & Kyle do their thing, Paraag is still the man cap wise, but can be a p*ick from what I was told, they do lowball players, but they end up rewarding their own, Buck was different, and the only real exception, outside of Trent, we traded for him, rewarded him with a huge deal.
Will he hold out?

Unlikely since the new CBA doesn't let the team pay the player the back pay for their hold outs.

Right, plus if he were to holdout he losses an accrued year towards FA, so he'd either have his 2022 deal toll, or he'd be a RFA in 2023.
How exactly does Madden create their rankings? TW is the top OL, Kittle is #2 TE, but Deebo is a no show. Absolute garbage.

1. Davante Adams, Raiders: 99

2. Cooper Kupp, Rams: 98

3. Tyreek Hill, Dolphins: 97

4. DeAndre Hopkins, Cardinals: 96

5. Stefon Diggs, Bills: 95

6. Justin Jefferson, Vikings: 93

7. Mike Evans, Buccaneer: 92

T-8. Terry McLaurin, Commanders: 91

T-8. Keenan Allen, Chargers: 91

10. Amari Cooper, Browns: 90

To critique these further Kupp is too low, Hopkins is way too high he can't separate anymore, Jefferson is too low, Amari is too high.
I would like to see their ratings by individual category. Deebos catching and speed may not be up there with some of these other players but his acceleration, strength, awareness, and vision should all be high 90's.
