There is a long history of ex-49ers going to Kansas City and continuing their interest as a second team. With Alex Smith now in Washington, assuming he signs the contract come March, let's put KC comments here. I'll start by saying KC struck a huge blow for improving their team with the Smith trade: The key to the deal was Kendall Fuller. He fills the biggest need KC had: CB. By the end of this past season, Reid had a choice of ex-49er Kenneth Acker or a washed-up Darrelle Revis at corner. Both were responsible for plays that led to losses. This is brilliant for KC. A secondary weakness becomes a strength, they get out of salary cap hell, and they get a 3rd round draft pick this year. Arizona had no way to match this deal in value to KC. A three-way win for KC. Of course the key will be whether or not Patrick Mahomes can play well on a consistent basis. With only one league game behind him, he will have a heavy load on his shoulders starting the new season.

I'll never understand why teams keep giving this guy the opportunity to come back and win in OT. As soon as the Colts kicked the FG to tie it the game it was over.

You have to go for the win. Force it even if you lose. Because you are guaranteed to lose in overtime anyway. You just won't come out of overtime with a win against Mahomes. Go on 4th down. Go for 2. Throw a hail marry at the end. Just do whatever you have to. But you can't play conservative to tie and have a chance in overtime. That's lunacy vs Mahomes.

We have personally been on the wrong side of that.

Well there's a difference in philosophies. In all honesty, if Kyle was in the same exact position last night in OT, facing a 4th down, do you think he goes by his previous experience in the SB and goes for it, or does he kick a FG and hope his defense can make a stop ? I'm willing to bet he goes for the FG and puts the ball back in Mahomes hands.
