Backtrack? More like clarifying my comment.

More like saying the opposite of what you initially said.

Career is over does not equal playing three more years. But whatever.

Calm down dude. We get it.

Best wishes for Alex

I am calm.

I agree. I feel terrible for him.

This is what I have been trying to tell everyone this whole time. It's not rocket surgery.

It's been the same circle for years. Most smith fans say he's a solid starting qb (not elite), and the haters assume this means we think he's an all pro... he's easy to cheer for, all class and integrity

Outside of the weirdos who compare him to Rodgers out of nowhere, we are mostly on the same page

Feel horrible for smith. Hopefully he comes back at the same level
Alex Smith is one of the toughest football players I've ever had the pleasure of watching. If anyone can come back from this, he can. (Personally, I'd call it a career.) I still have my Smith jersey that I bought on draft night. Maybe he didn't live up to the expectations of a #1 overall pick, but 2011 will always be one of my favorite seasons as a 49ers fan. Bless you, Alex, and may you get well soon.
Damn. This is horrible.

A horrible injury to a largely good guy.

Give him his props...he wasn't crying on the field or as they carted him away, rather he looked pretty pissed...a guy like D.Carr would have been unconsolable and crying his guts out.

My favorite player of all time . As others have pointed out he was a model citizen and a model teammate. If there was ever a player as far as teaching my kids teamwork, hard work, perseverance, and how to ignore the outside idiots, Alex would be the guy. From the time I got to watch him take my Utes to be the first BCS buster live in Tempe, to him beating the Saints, to him turning around two different organizations it's been a hell of a ride. Sad to see, but I fully expect him to be right there with the team as soon as he's healthy enough.
Never liked him. Mediocre QB. But injury sucks regardless.

It all makes sense now. Sorry about your guy Jiks. We may have massive differences in opinions, but never wanna see what happened today.

NFL aside Alex should call it. Helluva financial career. I legit feel bummed about this now. I grew up watching this guy struggling and all.

He has nothing to be ashamed of in the end. Money wife kids and more money
