I said the same thing when Alex was our QB that I say now. Winning percentage is not a QB stat. Its a team stat. You say dont overcomplicate things. So does that mean I should ignore the fact that Alex is at the bottom of almost every statistical category for QBs this season because his team is winning? Theres no overcomplicating of anything. Alex is not playing good football this year. He isnt. But because his team is winning, you and his fans are sticking your fingers in your ears and not listening to anything else.

Yes, winning percentage is a team stat. But who gets most of the blame/credit when its bad/good (for Alex only blame): the QB first, HC second. Therefore, Smith should get props for consistently winning for several years.

Smith's stats aren't good this year, but his INTs are low and his team is winning. He isn't playing like Mahomes or Goff, but his team is winning. He's playing Alex ball. Like I've always said, he's a solid starting QB, not an all pro. He's winning this year again, and having team success. It is what it is. Really hard to win for consecutive years in the NFL, on different teams, if you're the starting QB and playing badly. At some point you have to face the reality of a sufficient sample size of success for Smith. This isn't a fluke that his team is 5-2

Remember before the year, you and the rest of the Alex haters said that this year is the real test? If he gets this team to the playoffs he deserves credit? Remember this team isn't a stacked KC team, or a Harbaugh Niner team. Guess things changed?

How is Kirk Cousins? Couple of weeks ago, you laughed at me when I called Kirk Cousins garbage.

Turn on the TV last night for fun to watch the NO vs MIN game and few minutes later in the 3rd quarter Cousins throws that nice pick 6 while Vikings was already behind. I turned off the TV immediately, knew it was over nothing worth watching here LOL!!!

You sure have an eye for talent.

I bet you were thinking and hoping, like all of the Alex Smith haters, Alex Smith and the Redskins would be 3-4, 2-5, 1-6, or better yet 0-7 right now after 7 games before this season has unfolded. Too bad for the Alex Smith haters alike it didn't go according to your plan Furthermore Alex Smith has done this without a WR on the team who has eclipsed 1k yard a season in the NFL and a 33 yr old RB...

First Bold: Never said he sucked. But thanks.

Second Bold: I dont remember laughing at you, but that makes sense as I would laugh at anyone who would call Cousins garbage.

Third Bold: My guess is this story is nothing more than a made up story about you turning the game on then off. If you did turn the game on, you would have seen that Diggs stopped on a pass that would have been an on target pass if he didnt stop. My guess is you didnt actually see the play. Because if you did see the play, you have absolutely no right to tell me that I dont have an eye for talent.

No 1000 yard receiver but he has a TE who had a 952 yard-14 game season who is currently on pace for 690 yards. And you can make fun of a 33 year old running back, but said running back is carrying the offense.

The year is not over yet, so this is a bit premature, but I remember.

And so does Pepperidge Farms.

The goalposts may move from credit because they make the playoffs to credit only if they do it the right way. Time will tell.

Honest question, would appreciate an honest response. Would you use this excuse you're using for Cousins, with Smith? With Smith, it's more of a simple "look at the numbers" unless I'm wrong...

If one of Smiths receivers simply stopped and caused a pick 6, of course I would excuse Smith for that. I am not an unreasonable person just because I dont think Smith is as good as some of you in here.

But above and beyond any that, Cousins is having a really good season. Much better than Smith is having. So even if I didnt make an excuse for Cousins in that particular situation, his play has been substantially better than Smiths has been....and good enough that one could overlook a bad play.

Interesting that Cousins has an elite roster and his team's record is worse though...

I don't think Smith is hella good. Always said he's a solid starting QB with limitations. He was upper echelon last year during the regular season, this year he hasn't been as good. But when he plays poorly, like the Monday Night game a few weeks ago, his team sucks. Point is, he is vital to the team's success

lol stevewallace excuses, typical Alex Smith hater type noneffective rhetoric and narrative.

5-2, Alex Smith is a WINNER, hoping for 0-7 ain't happening lol!!!

There was a reason why Cousins was drafted in the 4th round and not in the 1st. He's a over achiever and got his pay day with MIN.

They were down 1 TD in the 3rd qtr and he throws a short pass into a pick 6 mid field and let NO go up 2 TD instead LOL!!!

If you want to compare Alex Smith and Kirk Cousins, I have NEVER seen Alex Smith throw a short pass into a pick 6 and cause a game at a pivotal
point in a game, and Cousins has 2 great WRs and a strong defense in MIN. Furthermore when he was with the Redskins he couldn't even beat Dallas for 2 years there says ALL.

Hey we know you hate Alex Smith and your eye for football talent is questionable to say the least, continually coming on here to rag on Alex Smith for years when Alex Smith has been winning for years now proves that.

We can ALL agree to disagree. But if you are going to come on here and post nonsense you will be called out especially if you respond to other people's posts with nonsense and false narratives

Peterson and Gore -- oldmen that can still be effective running the ball.

Meanwhile our RB can't run for a handful of plays without coming up hobbled.

Agreeing to disagree is fine by me.

What isnt fine by me is you resorting to personal insults, claiming I am using false narratives and nonsense when I am simply stating statistical facts that support my opinion, and you posting completely false information.

Agreeing to disagree is one thing. One you are doing is entirely different.

Actually, it does.

Making the correct call as the LOS has a lot to do with rushing totals.

I recall Jamaal Charles begin asked about Smith during the 2013 season, Smith's first with KC. Charles said Smith had the ability to read the defense and make the best adjustment at the LOS. Even when the adjustment did not result in a positive play, film study showed it was the correct adjustment. In 2013, Charles' rushing total was down about 225 yards but his receiving yardage was up almost 400.

Right now, Peterson's rushing ability is much greater than any of the Washington receivers not named Jordan Reed. He is the only credible receiving threat (29 receptions) on the team. As a result, he generally draws double coverage. Paul Richardson, a #3 at best, is the only WR (18 receptions) with more than 9 receptions. Josh Doctson continues to be a big disappointment. You just are not going to put up any big passing numbers with that kind of receiving corp.
