it's going to be a relatively healthy year for jimmy. he passed the game 2 test. if he makes it to week 3 without being out for season he will at least play half the season. if i were a raider fan i would take it lol

I'm all for mocking the Raiders, but I don't completely understand mocking Jimmy himself now that he's gone.
I've always liked Jimmy, no matter what some people think, it's just been the way fans defended him over the years when he clearly deserved some criticism that I had a problem with.
I felt going from Carr to Jimmy was a lateral move for the Raiders, as they might be more limited in the way they can attack defenses but that Jimmy played more winning football than Carr does week by week.
I will not mock Jimmy or Trey for not being our future, but I am glad we found ours with Brock. And that Brock exemplifies all the issues we saw with Jimmy and Trey.

It won't be on him even if the Raiders are really bad. They are just not a well put together team. Something that can be easily seen from anyone looking objectively at them.

I agree with this. But it is hard to be objective when we have heard "All he does is win" for the last few years.

he's a really good game manager, one of the best in the league, but you don't want to have to run the game
through him. That'll get you into bad situations. Keep him in manageable third downs, solid run game, solid defense - and you'll win and compete a lot. If you're missing one of those, you most likely won't win a lot.
even though I think much higher of him than others, I wasn't upset we were moving off of him. I just thought Trey was a ridiculous player to choose over him, for obvious reasons. It was very clear that we weren't moving onto to a better player, he couldn't even beat out sam freakin darnold. Lmao he's gonna replace a solid vet? Lmao
right now, at worst, we are getting a better version of jimmy at a fraction of the price. Brock still has the upside and we will see as he continues to play on if he gets better or not.
I totally disagree with this, and always have. Good game managers arent among the worst in the league in INT %. Aside from last year, Jimmy has always been awful at keeping the ball away from the defense. He was quite good last year at this, and I give him props for that. But 2 games into his Raider career, he has clearly reverted back to being more careless with the ball and throwing picks. Good game managers dont do that. Game managers dont take unnecessary risks and keep their INT% down. Outside of 2022, Jimmy didnt take unnecessary risks, but still threw the ball to the other team on the regular.
I'd argue that those kind of things are what prevented him from being in the top QBs, in a better capacity. Not like top 5 but top 8.
when someone is as polarizing as he is, it's usually because what they do well, they do very well. What they do bad, they do very bad. That's sort of the story with jimmy. There are very important aspects of playing qb that he does at a very high level. Top 3 in the nfl - such as EPA since 2017, third down play etc.
but then he does boneheaded stuff and I just think struggles mentally to Carry a team when it matters most and the heat down on him, which is obviously a trait a top qb wouldn't have. Lol
regardless, it's fine to agree to disagree. I think he's a really good game manager and you don't. I don't like or want any game manager because you have to have a crazy good team around then and can't make any mistakes.

I think Jimmy is the type of qb that exposes if his team has a good defense or not. He will play solid ball most of the time and keep an offense moving, but if the D struggles - it can get ugly.
i think the raiders have a poor D outside of a few guys, or at least not the right chemistry/talent mix. That isn't an excuse for jimmy, it means he can't carry a team. But I think if a D is top 15 or so, he is a QB that can help guide your team to a lot of wins.
i was always worried about the defense not having a good day because I didn't trust Jimmy to be dynamic enough to carry the team when others weren't having a day.
for example, with Jimmy - I don't think there is any way in hell we finish that half 17-17 with Jimmy. I think we go into the half like 3-17 (rams up) and possibly worse because I doubt he keeps the drives alive the same way Brock did.

Oh I dont disagree with a lot of what you said here. A lot is very true. I just think a good game manager doesnt throw a lot of interceptions. And apart from 2022, Jimmy was always among the worst in the NFL at throwing interceptions.

Do you think dak is a good game manager? He lead the league in picks while missing five games.

Dudes a winner though. Just look at his W L record. Obviously it wasn't our defense and run game/play calling that carried him. Don't wanna hear these excuses lol. A so called franchise QB, with potential to be top 5 QB in the NFL has to perform much better. Especially now that he has the freedom that's held him back here.
Must feel good to get all these posts you had saved on draft for so many years finally out
Lolwut unless you're blind, people having been saying this about Jimmy since the SB loss. Been saying this as well for the last several years. What is happening right now is not surprising at all. I'm sure you thought he would be some great QB on the Raiders though bc kYlE hElD bAcK jImMy lol
