I see a few people mentioning that the Jets will go after him. Did Saleh or the Jets say something about Jimmy G??

Former 49ers coach who runs a 49ers system that looks like needs a QB to take that next step. Seems kind of obvious.

Agreed with both. Jimmy's dimes are saving our season for the 2nd year in a row. Lucky to have him as our QB.

Reading this re posted, you edited my post. Pretty slimy.

Got to love the Fan Club. Anything to push the Jimmy is the great of all time narrative while stepping on heros like Montana and Young. True 49er fan

.

Yes because the only options are criticize him for every little thing or say he's the GOAT smh. Maybe just accept that he's not perfect, but he's pretty damn good and we can absolutely win the Super Bowl with him?

Call me crazy but sports and rooting for a team is supposed to be fun and entertain us as fans. There is obviously also an emotional component that is fueled by the effort and personalities of the players and team. Jimmy's physical attributes and decision making can be criticized for sure, but to minimize his contribution to the team and fans as only that is shallow and short sighted. Many of you have missed out on some amazing moments during this run because you're obsessed with having a certain "blueprint" at QB and think that if we don't win the Super Bowl that the season was a "failure." Neither life nor sports are that binary. Y'all do you, but I'll keep seeing my glass as half full.

Did you know you can be critical and supportive at the same time. When you call Jimmy the GOAT that is offensive to the 49ers alums that have come before him and it removes any creditability you may have had. We all as 49ers fans should cheer for him and enjoy the ride. I will be ecstatic if we win a SB with Jimmy. I dont care about next year at this point but you never show any ability to be critcal, the over the top support is obnoxious. Yes, I probably could take the edge off my point of view but your ridiculous views make it hard thus fueling the constant barbs. Jimmy should get some credit fior the teams success, he is our QB and he has made some plays but again Jimmy does everything point of view makes it harder to acknowledge.

I never called Jimmy the goat, that was Goatie and he said he needed a 30 day timeout for his comments. He's as bad as Chillin with his nonstop bashing that none of the Jimmy detractors never call out (except SWH).

Honestly no clue who you're referring to because I have no problem critiquing aspects of Jimmy's play. The missed TD to Aiyuk against Arizona is one that comes to mind. High passes on some screens that put our WR's in harm's way are another. Also think he needs to push back against Shanny more and make certain decisions on his own. But most "criticism" in here is outlandish and over the top. Totally unnecessary and does not facilitate rational conversation at all.

And thats the deal. Both sides of the Jimmy spectrum have gone to the extreme at times thus creating an illogical discussion. Its hard to listen when the points of view can be over the top. I will say it again, I hope really hope Jimmy plays well the rest of the season and wins it all. At that point we can then debate the path forward between him and TL. Lets just stop with Jim just wins (implying he does everything) , GOAT and as good as Allen/ Mahomes BS.

I don't control who's allowed to post in here. If mods would get rid of the extremes like "Jimmy is better than Montana" and "Jimmy sucks is average and gets carried" we could have some great discussions in here.

This is where part of the problem is though. Just because someone says Jimmy is average and gets carried by the team, you automatically read that as them saying he sucks.
He has to add sucks to the statement, when it's hardly said here.

"Jimmy is better than Montana and Young" is said even less than "Jimmy sucks. Yet some of you were very triggered by that and discussion around those posts has continued for days.
I see that more often than the he sucks statement

im not triggered by that, I'm triggered that you have to and keep saying that all you read is people saying he sucks when it's not true lol

One person (Goatie) has ever said Jimmy is better than Montana and Young. One. But you've heard that more times than Jimmy sucks (which has been said for years by multiple people)?

This is why you can't be taken seriously.

Not to mention, I listed many other illogical, silly statements about Jimmy that are said constantly. Yet you latch onto only one and derail the conversation. Par for the course with you.
Keep lying to yourself lol

About what? Who else said Jimmy is better than Montana or Young?

I never said that. Stop being a strawman

You've been a good poster over the years, but your recent troll job was crap. Do better.

LOL I just posted some stats. One was a stat of a win/loss percentage between the three at the same point of time in their careers. That stat was published by someone a few days before and I added an a opinion that JG was producing more. Not my fault people misinterpret that and the raw stats that followed. But I never ever said JG was better than Steve and Joe, You have to stop getting your knickers in a knot my man.

Posting those stats is an insinuation that Jimmy is better even though we all know he isn't . Otherwise, why even post the stats. They're meaningless.

Here's a good JG stat. He hasn't thrown an INT in 4 weeks. All wins. That's meaningful. That's the longest stretch of his career. Let's hope he keeps it going.

Well I beg to differ about them being meaningless. At the same point in their careers JG has a similar winning percentage. That says a lot. In 2019 he managed to get the 3rd highest yardage in franchise history. That is meaningful.

The point of the other stats is to show that he is no slouch when compared to other great players in the past.

Sure he had weak areas in his game. But he is still a developing QB who has not reached his potential yet. His shoulder surgery and the new QB coach have kept his development going spurred on by his competitive nature.

The stats I posted are indicative of that and not as you assert meaningless. It is hardly my fault people get triggered by stats that are posted. It is not like I made the stats up. But people here post stats all the time to make out an argument. In a sense aren't they all meaningless because they only tell part of a story because they are all selectively posted?

Stats means nothing when he choke in the SB and NFCC just last season and proved he has real limitations as a QB, why he's not a probowler and not a franchise QB
but a good backup QB only good enough to be QB1 over about 9 teams in the NFL, main reason why no other team was willing to risk trading even a 2nd pick for him and take on his big contract he wasn't worth paying for.

KS and LYNCH were GENIUS in waiting it out and forcing Jimmy to come back on a 1 year backup incentive-laden insurance deal to backup Trey, but it still goes back to the same thing, will he or will he not choke in the playoffs AGAIN and waste a improved SB caliber roster and chance? We'll see in a few weeks from now..

Jimmy is 65/100 most of the time, that's why he never made a probowl and choked in the SB and NFCC last season and no team wanted to give up a 2nd round pick for him. Will he choke in the playoffs in a few weeks when the team gets behind late? We will see..

You dont get many chances like this in the NFL, lucky Jimmy might finally run out of luck or get luck out for another SB ring 🤣

Perfect example. Why on earth is this allowed in this forum? Contributes absolutely nothing and only serves to troll and incite. But since he didn't directly attack anyone it's "okay?"

Very strange set of rules.

What? It's allowed because it doesn't break any rules I guess. You think posts that you don't agree with just shouldn't be allowed?

I said it's a strange set of rules. There is nothing to "agree with" with his posts because it's just mindless negative babbling.

You can't honestly be comparing my posts to Chilin. Lol ridiculous. You can disagree with me, fine. But I at least engage in conversation. Chillin is trolling 24/7.

I've read what you have to say in the Lance thread and could easily say the same about you. I still feel that your posts should be allowed, though.

Just put them on ignore list if they are overly nonsensical and ridiculous.

the problem is when he gets to the low end of the spectrum. He'll look like a pro bowler for 5 straight games, and then go into s**t mode looking like Rex Grossman for a patch of games where you absolutely want to cut him. And unfortunately, those lows come at the most inopportune times, like the Super Bowl or NFCC game.

I think the only way the team brings him back is if he wins the SB. Can't keep having more of the same, and this time Shanalynch has given him the dream time on offense to work with. No excuses to botch this…

No s**t 🤣

When the competition is the toughest in the NFL: the playoffs, NFCC, SB, that's when you separate the probowlers and the nonprobowlers and see who can stand out and who will choke vs the best under the highest pressure.

This is Jimmy's last chance to prove himself as a 9er and quite possibly as QB1 on a SB caliber TEAM.

Sure they would love to have him back again just like this season, but as a Backup that is on a backup deal just like this season 😉 otherwise he isn't worth the money or the wasted salary cap space and that's just being REAL unlike all the BS media hype and nonsense that's been constantly flowing around until this season comes to an end and Jimmy becomes a FA.

So what you people are saying is, when he wins you guys love him. When he loses you guys wanna cut him. I feel sorry for Trey Lance, I'd demand a trade asap.

Trey ain't going no where, he's on his rookie contract and he would be happier than anything to be healthy right now and play QB1 for this SB caliber team and earn more money in the future, just like Jimmy, proving he's good enough to be a franchise probowl QB.

Jimmy is a FA when the season concludes 2 months or so.

Let it go, EVERYTHING EVENTUALLY COMES TO AN END IN LIFE, Jimmy will either be the scapegoat again or do well and be offer a big enough contract to be QB1 else where as 9 other NFL teams or so would need a QB1 upgrade like Jimmy can offer them, that's just being REAL and that's how the NFL works, it's a BUSINESS.

And therein lies the problem with Jimmy. His reputation is such that major blunders are inexcusable to the fan base. Guys like Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Patrick Mahomes, and even second tier good players like Burrow, Herbert can get away with bad games because it's considered an "off day". With Jimmy, it's almost an expectation that he is going to f**k things up eventually, and therefore the patience level from both the fan base and coaching staff has wore thin. It's why he was treated like s**t on the off-season and TC (unjustifiably).

He really needs to win a SB this season to have any sort of street cred, or else he'll be finding a new home next season. Personally, I trust him more than Trey, and would love to see him win us a SB and stay on this team long term. I just don't see it happening - he's gonna screw us eventually…

If Trey was healthy this season, I don't think this team would be considered Super Bowl caliber. I don't think we're 7-4. I don't think we make the trade for Christian McCaffrey. I think this is considered a warm up year to prep for next year.

Jimmy is a big reason why we're in this current situation. But he'll also be a be a big reason when we get our hearts broken yet again…

Never know how much Trey could have flourished and developed this season if he stay healthy, the kid has tons of talent, good character and shows leadership and toughness at his young age and with way way higher ceiling and potential than Jimmy will ever have as a NFL QB, that's enough to 110% move on from Jimmy even if Jimmy plays good enough (65-72/100) to help this team get to the SB and win it this season mind you only because Trey got injured, regardless Jimmy is still NOT a probowl franchise QB (80-85+/100 consistently week in week out) worth paying and keeping around as QB1, that's how Business decisions works in the NFL, he's a FA as soon as this season ends and 9 other teams or so will bid for his services with bigger money contracts that he might never live up to especially with lesser rosters and coaching staffs and that's just keeping it REAL.

Jimmy goes a few games without an INT and all the sudden people come out the woodwork and declare him a franchise QB

I dont think anyone is negating the fact that Jimmys ability is throwing dimes.

🤡
The bottom line is Jimmy wins. So many QBs that won a Super Bowl had to go through multiple playoff losses before breaking through. Steve and Snake are two that come to mind. Might as well throw in Elway while we're at it. Jimmy has grown in the last year, he's a confident QB in the pocket. May I also say that he's fearless? He wins one and he gets put on the list of 49er QBs that were winners. Of course, no one will ever reach Joe, he was God.
