Why? He's been best best option since George Siefert. He isn't a savior. Btu he has turned around the franchise. The team loves him. The entire media call us contenders because of him.

What's with the continuous bashing even after a SuperBowl and NFC title he's primarily responsible for?

So why hate him? You arent changing coaches in the next 3 seasons. Bill Walsh isn't coming back ever. Just sit back. Watch and enjoy. Suck it up.

Agreed

No, we just don't think the 49ers would be in the position they're in with Purdy. He's a rookie with limitations and very little knowledge of the playbook. Only you think he's better than Jimmy.

Why? He's our best best option after treys injury. He isn't our starter. He's saved our season. The teammates love him. Some still call us contenders with him.

What's with the continuous bashing even after a great performance?

So why hate him? You arent changing qbs right now, Trey isn't coming back this year. Just sit back. Watch and enjoy. Suck it up.

Why do some of you keep saying that if someone questions Jimmy or thinks we could do better that we HATE him. I don't think many hate him but there are a lot of us that want someone better. Someone more dynamic that can actually bail the team out when it becomes necessary. Jimmy is fine as long as everything is going smoothly. Some of us just don't have a lot of faith in him if he has to bring the team from 2 or more scores down late in the game. Thankfully the defense is usually good enough that it isn't an issue and the games are usually close.

No hate in that statement. Just observations .

I'm guessing he isn't talking about you...just a few people left in here that fall in that Jimmy-is-everything bucket. An inability to see anything else. Simple, singular thinking.

Right. I'm referring to a very select few.

Also where are we without jimmy. Probably looking at a top 5 pick next year that we have to give to Miami, its possible the McCaffrey deal doesn't get done given how s**tty our recird is... the fan base is forgetting where this season could have gone because of that damn injury if we didn't have Jimmy. Lucky lucky.

Can you imagine if we got stuck with Purdy? What a disaster!

Yes I can. We've probably had a lot worse than him in the past. Saying where are we without Jimmy doesn't mean we can't want someone even better. I know I got spoiled when Montana and then Young were at the helm but it made me see first hand what a great, not just a good QB can do. That's why I want more. Jimmy will have to do until we find that guy. Is it Lance? I have no idea and I don't think anyone else can realistically say they know for sure.

Don't ever let go of those standards. Ever. Our history is littered with some of the very best OL/DL in history too. I still hold them to that standard today. The skill positions too? That goes without saying.

Its amazing you don't see the difference.

Jimmy isn't the starter. Jimmy has been replaced. It's been widely acknowledged that Jimmy isn't an elite qb. He does what he does, and somehow it works for this team most of the time. We have no choice but to accept it this year.

Shanahan, however, is the main guy. He is still regarded by some on here as an elite coach despite his mediocre overall record. He is still the head coach. He isn't an interm coach. He isn't on the hot seat. Theres a reason to be critical of him he doesn't succeed. There's a reason to be angry if he doesn't succeed.

That's the difference.

If I b***h about every little throw the QB makes AFTER a win, then I'd be a hater.

See the difference?

Having those standards is fine. But expecting every position group to be filled with pro bowl level players like its still the pre salary cap era is just inviting disappointment.

When you don't have your starter for half your seasons as HC would you expect an elite record?

Would Matt LaFleur and his sparkling record have a better record here?

With an admitted non elite qb the 9ers are tops in passing DVOA. Tells ya everything right there.

Yeah, I never understood the "probowl player" at every position mantra (not speaking about you). We've probably come close along the two trenches in our history, esp. the DL, but that should never be the realistic goal. It's about highest end unit play. We all remember the Dream Team in Philly. L.A. Dodgers. N.Y. Yankees.

Purdy is an unproven rookie QB.

this is really a bad comparison to make your point

Wouldn't "the very best OL/DL, skill positions too" qualify as pro bowl or better players? You are talking about position groups and not individual players, correct? Perhaps I misread your post.
