Wouldn't call him garbage but he isn't very good in the playoffs.

2 NFC Championship Games and 1 Super Bowl appearance says you are wrong. He got to this one with a busted up shoulder and busted up thumb too. He wasn't completely healthy.

That defense and running game

Sweet. That means we'll be in the Superbowl this year, no problem!

This a talented roster on defense and offense. Top 5 roster in the NFL.

The thing holding us back from winning it all so far has been a lot of injuries or poor QB play when it mattered.

I expect this to be a very competitive team, but a 1st year starter at QB most likely won't mean SB. We are hoping that Trey can be the QB to put us over the hump when we get there, just like the Chiefs hoped with Pat when they got rid of Alex who couldn't put them over the hump either. But it took another year of Pat playing for them to win it all, but I'm sure we have the Trey haters who are SB or bust mentality, and if not we should've kept Jimmy "Smith"

I agree that a first year starter winning the ring is rare. But one thing is for sure, our offense is far more scary with Lance than it is with JG.

If we are contenders year 1 we are going to be contenders for at least the next 4-5 years as we have the salary cap to withhold this team for the most part. Not having a statue will help the OL. But we still desperately need OL and Secondary help.

Honestly if we dont get the deal we want (a 2nd at least) I say we run it back with jimmy. He did pretty damn good for being badly injured. We made it all the way to the nfcc game with a 40% Jimmy. If he was healthy we wouldve won the chip. Lance is very raw and it would probably do him good sitting another year. Wouldn't want to ruin him throwing him in too soon, he still needs to learn.

lol. This is just depressing to read.

I wouldn't be surprised if you worked for our front office and just putting this out there since we're not getting jack s**t on the market.

Of that was true he would have played last year

4 seasons, 3 ending because our QB got injured.

For that reason alone, enough is enough.

thats why we made the trade

Jimmy is tough but does get injured. If he was healthy for the past 3-4 years we dont make the trade. A heathy Jimmy is a good QB touching on great (around top 10) but thats also where his ceiling is

Yes

lol so you think Lance can't be 40% Jimmy?

I can't get into another stupid debate about being "raw" and thinking not playing him will magically make him "not raw". You can NOT learn by NOT playing at this point...I feel like people saying anything else, have never played sports in their life.

Agree that that problem needs a creative solution. I don't have one. Could we sponsor him to play another season at NDSU? As an employee of ours. Re-enrollment school have him play on the team for a year. Hes still 22. Everybody has a minor league system except football. This is where we need one
Whats the point Brodie.. seriously..?

Live game reps. So he gets game experience in a system that's similar to ours does really well and grows his confidence. As opposed to learning through tape and carrying a clipboard. We could move our quarterback school program down there.

I don't know. Trying to find a solution

You're trying to find a solution to a problem that isn't there.

I'd never argue those two but in a team sport, particularly this team, you're leaving out a grocery long list of other (common) issues that cost us.

Team Weakneses:
Defensive pass interference
Defense can't generate TO's
Defense fails late in games and in quick fashion
Defense instantly gives up a score immediately after going up double digits
3rd down pass defense
Defense piss poor tackling (and technique) at times
Offense missed a big opportunity/play
Offensive TO's lead to points the other way
Offensive TO's take points off the board
Offensive penalties at crucial times usually in the RZ or backed up (false starts, holdings, delays, etc.)
Receiver drops
Boneheaded team penalties at key moments
Kyle is bipolar with play calling
Kyle struggles with clock management at times
Kyle gets too cute or too conservative at times
Slow starts and/or poor second half adjustments
Must run 35+ times to have a chance to win
Unit pass protection collapse in predictable passing situations (includes RB's, FB and TE's)
Too many key injuries at key positions at key times
SpecialED teams

Now, if you think better health and near flawless QB play could be enough to overcome this list, I'd be tempted to agree with you but what we've learned recently is that transcendent QB's can only transcend so much...to WIN a Superbowl.

Id say Jimmy played a big part in the bolded.

Don't think it's that. We will be over the cap at the start of the new year so teams might be waiting to get a better deal at the deadline as then we would have to move or dump him. Don't think it's as much the injury

Yes the WR drops were Jimmy's fault. Random proved it.

Hence why I included those common elements. You just have to apply this list to each game. Some are moot, some are status quo and others are massively costly even more than normal.
