I was saying this five seconds after the trade. Yee and Paraag sitting next to each other at the presser. No way he takes a snap without security (agent perspective).

Right now it is all 100% speculation. All I know for certain is that the 49ers gave up a 2nd round pick for a QB that Kyle has liked for a long time and that Jimmy is a terrific fit for a WCO. Those factors can allow one to reasonably conclude that there is a better than average chance of Garoppolo receiving a long term deal with the 49ers.

Exactly. I saw the report this morning from Schefter sources and laughed. An hour later they are reporting he could have a contract Before he gets on the field lol which by the way makes way more sense for the player and the team.
Paraag is known to do fair deals. The player gets paid but the team is protected. I'm sure they both want that.
The real question I have is how long will the contract be?

Yeah definitely sounds like a leverage move. I guess my point was they have options. They can do whatever they want. I just think it's best to get an idea of what you have in Jimmy before you commit a 100 million or whatever Qbs are getting paid these days.

Sure it does. In an opinion piece, the argument is only as good as the source. Let Maiocco, Barrows or some other actual professional journalist make the argument in a coherent fashion and I'll be intrigued to hear what they say.
Nothing about Cohn is professional, coherent or intriguing. Have zero interest in what that dandruff-laden BS merchant has come up with now.
You have zero interest in what he has to say. Again, totally fair! I am not asking anyone here to have an interest in what GC has to say. All I asked was what, about his specific argument in the above linked article, is problematic. He concludes, "Until Garoppolo signs an extension — if he ever does — this trade isn't as good as it looks." Again, this conclusion seems to me, to be, prima facie, correct.
How about the fact that his argument is mostly conjecture and opinion on how individuals, who he almost certainly has no insight into, will behave?
Even his own piece confirms that Lynch pretty much won't talk to him. And I don't blame him.
There's nothing wrong with reading it, and his theory certainly could be true, but it isn't presented in a credible way.

You stated that perfectly right there because, all the writers are speculating just as we are and hopefully it goes in our favor for once.

Yeah its not like they have a completely different front office and coaching staff. Lets keep imposing the sins of GMs and coaches past rather than judging these guys on their own merits over time.

Yeah, there's a number of ways this could work...in our favor.
We could literally franchise or transition tag him for two years if we needed ( compensation if we lose him).
We could still draft a top QB as well and develop him and BeatHard for a year or two and receive compensation if someone wants Jimmy in the end. It buys us time.
We have as much leverage as JG and his agent which probably means they both work diligently to get a long term deal done before the draft.
. Probably the best trade or FA deal since Steve Young and people are desperate to rubbish it or find a downside. Excluding Cohn, who is just trying to generate clickbait, I would have thought people would have been excited and keen to see how it turns out. After all, had any other team signed Garoppolo the webzone would be in meltdown blaming York, Lynch and Shanahan equally.

Kyle wants Garoppolo. That's obvious.
Garoppolo wants Kyle to make him great and to play his career under him. What quarterback in the entire league wouldn't?
I think the odds are very slim indeed the contract isn't done before we would need to franchise him.
