He better play well this week. Unacceptable if he plays bad again this week.

Great. The 49ers have a Qb who cant play the position, but we also have an online who cant block. This team refused to upgrade the interior of this line and it shows. If the line is as good as the cowboys line and if jimmy g could retuen to 2017 form, this team would be playoff bound. (They could be super bowl bound if saleh wasnt coaching the defense and if bosa wasnt such a b***h)

That cowboy line gave up the 2nd most sacks last yr and we're top 10 in hits allowed....SF actually gave up less sacks per game last yr than Dallas/GB and Jax (who paid a f**k ton of money to that OG that everyone wanted).
sigh, all this preseason hand wringing over nothing

It's less game planning. He should be able to complete passes.

I agree.

But maybe Shanny pulled him because he looked so bad. As if he thought this dude is not ready.
No, Shanny didn't want to cut into reps for Beathard and Mullens.

Jimmy G was scheduled to get no more than 2 series'. how do people not know this? he was going to be pulled THAT early regardless of how he performed or what happened. it just makes it 100x harder to end on such a sour note like that.

Apparently there has never been a QB who has missed on 5 straight throw before?

It was 6 passing plays and 10 snaps. RELAX.

There were 5 culprits in Jimmy's NFL PS opener Flop.

1 . First and foremost., was unquestionably the OL. And not just the interiors, either, altho they were horrid. OTs didn't shine either.

2. Chubb, Harris and von mIller. ...those guys all came with everything they have and all 3 are likely all pros this yr. Against our 1s they were terrors.

3. Kyle...for not foreseeing #2. He knew those 3 guys (assuming Von M played) would bring the heat. So, instead of showing how well he can scheme ,he should have been thinking, "get the ball out ASAP, and faster than FAST" ...or JG was going to get clobbered. HC has as much liability here as anybody.

4. JL + Kyle for not having better talent on the interior OL. We went WRs instead of OGs(Eisner) and that was by choice. Protecting your QB is more important. I know, i know, Hurd and Deebo were supposed to make up for no interior OL starters, and get open quick. Well, that didn't happen. Chub , Harris and VON m. Were a lot faster than Debo and Hurd.

5. Finally jimmy. After the first two plays, he should have come to sideline and said, "Coach, we need quick hitters, as DEN big 3 are killing us and they are fast as greased lightning. His hesitation, slowness in getting ball out, uncertainty...really kyle should have anticipated all those things and should have called plays accordingly. Like 3 or 4 running plays wouldn't have been a bad idea. But calling for plays that take a while to open up? Bad idea. Oh, and yes, jimmy was rusty. A better idea might have been to play him against the DEN 2s. It would have built up his confidence as our 2s and 3s were way better than DEN.

I would push for Kyle NOT starting JG, and instead bringing him in against the opponent's 2s on Sat. I know it wont' happen that way, but i really think it should. Get him acclimated. Then start him. Just not on Saturday. Get him PT against the 2s, not the 1s. Just for one week.

It sounds like you don't have confidence in Jimmy, because you're asking for him to be coddled. Kyle has seen Jimmy everyday in practice for the last month. He's seen every practice snap that he has taken. Based on what he has seen, Kyle did not think Jimmy needed to be coddled or given only a steady dose of basic high percentage throws.

Nope, quite the opposite. Letting jimmyG start against the toughest, fastest, meanest line in NFL...Chubb, Harris, von MIller...really in retrospect was a bad idea. Hadn't played against competition except his own D for over a yr...and now to be turned loose against CHubb et al? That was very poorly thot thru by our HC. I love kyle and want him here forever. But that doesn't meant he can just be our OC. He has to be HC also. And a good HC would have sized up that DEN DLine, and said, "this would be a good time to let Mullie or CJ play against DEN 1s. " ....unless, Kyle had no idea just how good that DL was . And that is flat out foolish. He knows what those 3 guys can do. Going from playing against middling D to the tops in the league? That is a step too far. IMO.
I don't know what's worse: being concerned about a QBs play in preseason or debating against those who are concerned about a QB play in preseason.

I don't think it was a bad idea at all. It serves as a reminder to Jimmy G. just what he faces in this league.

Go re-watch those passes...outside of one (the almost pick) they were all the right reads and even that was partly Matthews fault because he was a slow break because he slipped.

Batted down balls are more on the line (and it was a backup at RG).

I know it sounds lame, but it really wasn't all Jimmy G there. Poor execution by the OL (even our pro-bowler Joe f**ked up). Poor scheming by the coach on that INT. Poor route running by Jordan Matthews etc.... yes Jimmy G was responsible for the edge blitz on his 5th pass attempt, He made the correct read BUT we had our LG blocking no one there

I mean he was playing against them for two days prior We have good tackles, Joe and Tomlinson had some miscommunication on that INT such is football and the preseason. You're hardly ever gonna get perfect scenarios in the NFL. IMO for the most part he made the correct reads. Could have thrown that INT away? sure, BUT it's preseason, it's a practice. The guys around him need to play better as well and it showed up on the tape.

IMO Jimmy NEEDS all the damn snaps he can get, people forget he's not some vet starter. He will get better (more confident) with more live in-game reps NOT sitting on the sidelines.

Dude getting paid a lot of money to play, now it's time to let's see if he can play.
