Let's say this was a hockey press conference. Sidney Crosby is asked a question by a black reporter. Sidney Crosby pauses, laughs to himself and says, "ha... wow, a black guy asking me about hockey. I didn't realize black people were interested in hockey." I think a lot of people would find that inapporpriate. imo it's very similar.

Cam's comments didn't offend me whatsoever. I actually thought it was funny. Reminds me of a joke I'd make to my girlfriend or one of her friends. It's not okay to make jokes like that in this environment though. You have to err on the side of being respectful. Not everyone finds that sort of stuff funny.

I can see why she felt patronized but that's due to a subjective interpretation of Cam's intent.

Comparing race and gender isn't a fair comparison. Black men and white men both play sports. Sports itself is segregated along gender lines. No women play in the mens NFL, NBA, MLB etc.

There has also been black hockey players. We've never seen female players in the NHL.

At leaat you weren't offended. lol

Of course it's a fair comparison. It's an analogy, and not even a rough one. You're really splitting hairs here. 93% of NHL players are white, just like the majority of football reporters/fans are male.

If we're going to dump on Cam because her feelings were hurt as a woman reporter then why does she get a free pass after publicly posting a derogatory term that has historically offended all black Americans, especially when it's delivery is from a white individual?

Apparently, this lady posted some twitter 4 years using N word. Now she is labeled racist. My god.

PC police is out of control. Kaepernick should start another protest against PC police.

I think this situation is blown out of proportion.

basically the people who make this a big deal in this thread, most likely they don't listen to rap music (like she was quoting) or pretend not to also say the n word when the musician says it too. their opinion is really hilarious on this matter lol

He's right though. It's ironic/funny that a woman, or the average journalist, is pressing professional athletes and asking finite details about something they know little about. Same in any sport. We see it with MMA all the time.

No one would've thought twice about this a 10 years ago. Now everyone is so defensive and sensitive. Our society loves to find an opportunity to label someone: a racist, sexist, fascist, bigot, prejudice... who f**king cares.
