Completely disagree with this. Injuries take a bigger toll than age on a body, and age is big too. Especially leg injuries to a RB.

He got paid $3.6 mil last year and 3.3 mil in 2020 why would he take a $2 million paycut to stay here when he can easily get $4 mil from Miami and be closer to his family ?

Because a 2 mil cut means he stays with Kyle and on a superbowl contending team, rather than a re-building team with a first time coach.

Yeah. If Miami offers him $4 mil and Niners offer $2 mil I think he is gone. If Niners offer him $3-3.5 mil I think he stays to try and get a ring but $2 mil he is gone.

A heavily incentivized deal is all they should offer this dude, he's always hurt

Any agreement under 5m we immediately take.

This guy makes rain.

5m for a dude who is injured more than Jimmy G? im glad you arent the GM
I say we keep 4 RBs and Mostert should be one of them.

He's jumped around from team to team during his career until he landed here and was greatly helped by Kyle's offense. He knows this, we know this. I should not cost much to bring him back, maybe 2mil at the most.

We can't be arguing over 2 million for mostert just give him some decent upfront money a couple of incentives and let's get going

For the right price, I agree
Dude is our best chance at a homerun on any given play. You keep guys like that around. Give him something that makes him feel wanted but not too much in case he gets hurt again.

In reality though, a team will over pay and take him away from us.
Let him go to Miami, so I can pick him up as a late round underappreciated fantasy pick and I can win my league.

I think the Niners will offer him around that $3-4 million range. If I were him I would take that. But if they get cute and cut his pay by by $1.6 mil thats almost a 50% paycut and thats how he will view it. He will take it as the Niners lowballing him. He felt he was undervalued 2 years ago and the Niners gave him a pay raise. So I seriously doubt he takes a paycut to stay. If Miami outbids us I think he is gone.

I wouldn't offer that much. Purely an incentive driven deal. I want him, but we've been burned too much and it could be argued the way we've been burned has cost us one or two Super Bowls. If he walks, I'm just chalking it up as another potential comp pick. We are going to have some pretty significant departures that could lead to a few picks in the middle rounds in 2023.

INJURY or no injury, his days were over the minute he asked for a NEW contract... that's the very reason why KS10 drafted two more RBs in last year's draft....

Agree. He's a good player. Just from the medical point of view, he's 29 and he'll take (I think) one year to get back to 100% health (not guaranteed) and he'll be 30 in one year, and by the time he's fully healthy he will be 31.

You have Mitchell, Hasty, and possibly Jeff Wilson coming back. On top of that, ShanaLynch have been absolutely consistent in getting RB's in Day three and Day four (Undrafted Free Agents). We really haven't seen Trey Sermon yet, and hopefully he can step up in 2022. Assuming 49ers Trade jimmy for a draft pick (say one 2nd round pick) that's 10 draft picks to get a day three diamond in the rough gem at RB. Last thing - 49ers didn't lose much with Raheem out of the roster in 2021.
As per Bill Walsh philosophy. You let the man leave five years early than five years too late. Even though he still has "thread on the tires."

As per Ozzie Newsome philosophy. You collect on the compensatory draft pick.
