Thomas running at 4.69 is nearly as fast as Aaron Lynch but is much quicker than him.

The guy seems like a nice Stanford kid but when he gets on the field he kind of flips a switch. The guy wants to be great and I think he will make Arik and Buck and the rest of the D line pick it up a notch.
Its that Reggie White mentality. People talked about how he was like the nicest, most easy-going guy off the field but once he got on the field he was looking to knock someone's block off. He flipped that switch from nice guy to monster.
Dudes like that just store up all their aggression and anger like putting money in a checking account and then cash it out on the football field.

My uncle is like that, he was drafted by the Browns but had a knee injury his senior year that kept him from going pro. He is the nicest guy but my dad has told me how his brother relished hitting and getting hit, he was a great boxer too and was the reason my dad boxed and my dad is not someone who relishes getting hit.

At this point like there's any other choice. But the Niners pre Aldon is how that plays out.

Your amazing foresight didn't work for the draft, we'll see whether it's more accurate through the season. If I were you I wouldn't be making predictions like they are unquestioned facts though.

I never said we wouldn't take him. I gave my own thoughts but I'm well aware I'm not the GM. A DL is not complete without edge rushers. If you disagree with that lol.

I agree. Despite drafting DLs the last three years the 49ers Defensive Line is not high caliber at all. Lynch's suspension set him back some. Brooks is old. Armstead is often injured. The only sure fire player is Buckner, IMO.

You always need edge rushers no question...elite interior pass rushers are even harder to find and I think we have two in Buck/Thomas. That will make the life of whomever is our "LEO" that much easier. looks like another good draft class next yr at edge rusher as well.
If we do get Kirk and still have a high pick, I'm looking to get a kings ransom in draft picks

As posted in another thread, the whole secret to this yrs D is going to be how Saleh gets all 3 of AA, Buck, and Solomon all on the same DL. If he can do that, plus add Blair or our new DJ to that DL, that will be one tough DL. Key is getting all 3 of our big guys in together...trial and error will probably find the right mix. If Saleh can do that, we are golden.

I have heard it said that you learn much of your character and learning skills before the age of 7. Since Solomon lived from age 2 to age 7 in Australia I am claiming him as an honorary Aussie. He better not be a bust like the Hayne dude!

Baalke was drafting back then too?

Or does Thomas play RDE & Armstead plays LDE w/ Lynch playing DT on passing downs?
Niners still need a big, run-stopping NT and a true LEO, IMO.
This is a weird group of DL to have. They now have 4 guys whose best position is LDE (Thomas, Armstead, Lynch & Buckner), and none of them are true DTs.
What are you talking about? Buckner and AA are both natural 4-3 DT's. But it sounds like our coaching staff thinks AA can play anywhere across the line. Base on 1st down to me:
LDE: Thomas
5T: Armstead
NT: Mitchell
3T: Buckner
LEO: Lynch

If he suddenly retires to go chase his dreams of becoming an Olympic lacrosse player it will not reflect well upon your people.

Yes, quickness is WAY more important, especially if we are talking about a RDE in our system.

BTW, as discussed months ago, Buckner would be the superior fit for 5T, due to AA's weaker play against the run and his power.
