No, Thomas is a frontline defensive tackle and the game's best rotational lineman.

Every time i see this guy he is standing around hitting nothing. On the edge hes a zero.
Maybe inside its different.
There isn't a Solomon Thomas supporter on the planet who thought he was anything other than horrible on the outside. Not sure why people are still talking about him at DE as though it's relevant to any discussion. It's as unanimous as anything in life...and there are people out there who think chocolate milk comes from brown cows.
But he's stuck playing there yet again because of Dee Ford's injury. It just never ends. He should never receive another snap at DE in his life (unless it's a 3-4 defense, of course). It's like putting Ted Washington at DE.
That's why people calling him a "tweener" is so laughable. He's very good inside and abysmal on the edge. That's the opposite of a tweener. A tweener would be someone who gets equal results no matter where you line him up.

There's room in inside rotation, but the 49ers have paper thin depth at DE, and continue to boneheadedly think that since Thomas runs 4.69 in the 40, this means he's a better fit at DE than other guys.

Want to get where? What does that even mean?
Thomas has a motor like you wouldn't believe. He can't play defensive end because he's not a defensive end. He's as pure a DT as you'll ever find. As pure as the driven snow. It's like whining about John Lynch not shutting down wide receivers if you move him to corner.

a motor you wouldn't believe? huh? I havent seen that anywhere on any tape going back to stanford. If you warch him play you should know exactly what i mean. Hes a hider. The only reason I don't totally throw him in the trash is because jd says he does a good job inside. I just haven't seen it.
