I have to commend Saleh. Like 75% of these players playing are not starting caliber and they are competing. They're going to make enough stops against the bears and panthers of the world. Just won't be good enough against colts and Seahawks. Next year is going to be brutal even with Bosa and Warner. Bosa is probably cooked because of his 18 ACL tears.

Robert Saleh was the worst call play for defense, which is why I am so disappointed in him. He was earning a lot of money. He needs to take defense calls very seriously. The 49ers defense looks like a JV squad, and the Rams can score 42 points while making fun of us. In four games, he calls plays too awful and wost the game. And Robert Saleh is unquestionably at fault.

Can't help but think last weeks humbling by the Rams is gonna be what launches this defense into something to fear- even if that's likely next season.
With everything we've had happen we were due a game like this and I think it might end up being the best thing to happen.
One of those games that lays bare the weaknesses and holds you to account. Sucks at the time but lights the fire for future progress.

You do realize you are using a total yards allowed, not ypg. We are one of the few teams who haven't had a bye. We are:
#12 in ypg allowed
#15 in ppg allowed
Those aren't elite #s but you'd have to agree that our off-season losses + injuries + many rookies starting/playing it's a pretty respectable defense

You know, I get the injuries and alll.... but we havent sacked anyone today even though brisett dropped back FIFTY TIMES.... and our coverage execution is CONFUSED. So, is that a coaching thing or a player execution thing? I'm thinking Saleh needs to take some heat for this.

Brissett broke the NFL completion record. 452 yards. That is awful. Turnovers and penalties was the only thing that stopped them all game. We got to make some changes in this secondary, even if we got to sign some new guys off the street to play.
