O'Neil always puts me to sleep. "Long Day's Journey Into Night?" What's up with that? Now "Death of a Defense"...that was sad.

Lol, I know what your trying to say. Tbf though Roman has been fired from another coordinator job since and when he was here, he had a much better cast of players available, especially on the oline than was available after he was let go.

Yeah but Roman found another NFL gig right away. This somewhat shows he knew what he was doing since another NFL head coach picked him up. No idea what Geep is doing but it's not in the NFL.

LMAO...yeah, from Roman to Geep. Good point.

Chryst is the tight ends coach for the broncos. Remember there were rumblings that Chryst was the defacto passing game coordinator for the 49ers. Either way, Roman can build a ground game but couldn't last but a year and a half with the Bills after leaving here. He proved his inability to build a consistent passing game with the bills and caught on with Rex because Rex is obsessed with building a ground control offense and thought Roman was the perfect fit. Chryst has been able to find work in the NFL consistently since the early 90's. On some level, he has some respect in the league.

Clearly Roman and Chryst with Harbaugh collectively made it work to what they know. I just wanted to make the point that we don't know if Chryst would have at least been comparable to Roman's stats because his collection of talent was worse. His oline options were horrendous. Nobody could have built a high functioning offense with that oline in 2015. Either way, this isn't a defend Chryst kinda thing anyhow. I don't think either of those guys are the kinda guys that a team should want coordinating an NFL offense on their lonesome. Both add value as support pieces but neither hold a candle to Kyle Shanahan as an offensive mind.

Thanks for the correction Willisfn. Good points. And I did not know Geep was back in the NFL. He did get a raw deal trying to OC that 2015 squad.

Good stuff fellas...but yeah, as to the original point, yes, it CAN get worse...unfortunately.
Barrows take on the DL going into training camp:

LDE: Tank Carradine, Ronald Blair, Solomon Thomas, Noble Nwachuckwu

NT: Earl Mitchell, Quinton Dial, D.J. Jones

DT: DeForest Buckner, Chris Jones, Dial

RDE: Arik Armstead, Aaron Lynch, Pita Taumoepenu, Elvis Dumervil

If some of these guys outperform our expectations this could be a monster line: Carradine, Blair, DJ Jones are three I'm really anxious to watch in preseason.
