Walsh wasn't HC long enough to be considered the greatest, IMO. Which is a shame. Walsh could have easily won the two rings for us that Seifert won and possibly one or two more.

Lombardi won six championships but that was when there were less teams in the league. He's close, though.

David Tyree doesn't make a miraculous helmet catch and this wouldn't even be a debate.

Admonished? Were you warned? No. Were you suspended? No. Did you report these people who called you ignorant?

If you want to get banned, you just throw around idiotic accusations of racism as you suggest. And we'll missed on the point I made. If I think Lombardi is the best ever, how does that make me a homer?

Belichick is the best coach today, but look closely at the AFC East, each team self destructs before the season begins. How many coaching changes has this division had? How many winning seasons? When you have no competition and home field during the playoffs you're going to win many games. Look at the QB's in the AFC East over the last ten years, it paints a sad picture.

IMO, great coaches have a signature contribution to football. Lombardi was execution. he proved that a limited playbook could be dominant with perfect execution. BW and BB built programs based upon flawless execution on offense, but Lombardi is the coach that first established the power of precision. BW innovated offensively and defensively, creating the WCO and championing the 3-4 defense. LeBeau will never get the credit he deserves as an innovator because he wasn't a successful HC, but the zone blitz changed defensive football forever.

I think Belichick's hallmark will be accountability (not to the rule book, of course). Every player knows their job, and that their role must be executed or they will be replaced by another player with a similar skill set who will complete the task. His ability to produce a 10 win season without Brady was important to his legacy, but he's still won every championship with the same QB, just like BW, Knoll, etc. If he could win one w/o Brady, I think he'd clearly be above the rest.

In fairness to Bob, the Webzone is downright rife with blind homers that are, in fact, incapable of having an objective discussion about topics like "best coach ever" or "best quarterback of all-time". This is certainly not unique to the Webzone, it's just symptomatic of fan message boards in general, but I do understand his frustration.

That said, there are plenty of objective people here as well that can have meaningful and respectful conversation, so I do I agree that "if you disagree, you're a homer" is a bit strong.

What about Sid Gillman? I think it becomes a generational thing, in that we tend to focus on the players/coaches that we grew up watching, with little regard for those of the past.
