Anything back related becomes a problem, especially for players that use leverage on just about every play. This might be the beginning of the end of his status as a top 5 defender. Watt played through a herniated disk last year but this year it got bad enough to deal with it with surgery. This is a wear and tear thing that doesn't go away.

you don't know for sure. chances are that it could be nothing major either.

I don't know what for sure? Are you talking about the surgery or the herniated disk? You are correct in that I only read an article about how he played through a herniated disk, I didn't look at his MRI.
