Putting points on the board doesn't mean a whole lot if you give up a ton of points because your defense is on the field so much. Additionally his system requires smaller, more athletic players that we've seen get pushed around and physically dominated by better teams.

How did that wonder offense work out versus Fangio and a beat up 49ers defense last year? All of 200 total yards and about the same amount of points as the 49ers have been scoring this year.


Its not even a complex offense, just a pretty vanilla offense where they run a limited amount of plays but push the pace to keep moving the ball down the field. The problem is that even when it works, your defense has to rush back on to the field and when it doesn't work, your defense is really in trouble.

Teams have learned that running the ball, stacking the box and playing press coverage is a highly effective way of putting that offense in check. For that reason, I don't ever see it working well in the playoffs.

This. They are already lining up consultants and promoted Tom Donahoe who will be aiding in their head coaching search along with Howie Roseman.

Interestingly enough the presence of Roseman, who has a reputation of being a meddler, might complicate their GM search quite a bit.

I understand the logic and I agree with you that his balance on offense sucks! but if our offense couldve scored 19 points on some games I feel that our defense could've pulled it of.
Scoring only 3 pts in this NFL era and a TD on garbage time to make it look like they did something is unacceptable.

He actually impressed me his first two seasons. Then for some reason he went totally wacko when he gave away all his good players.

I'd still take him in a minute over Tomsula.

I understand the frustration, I just don't see Chip's system as viable long term in the NFL. If they could get back to the sort of balance that they had in 2012, running and passing the ball, I'd be happy with that. They need a better scheme, a better playcaller and they need to draft a QB.

My favorite would be Hue Jackson, I like that he runs a fairly aggressive offense, has an attacking mentality, even when ahead and can smoothly combine the run and the pass while still playing physical, hard-nosed power football.

I always liked Hue and would not mind him at all. Don't get me wrong there is no way on earth I would ever want Chip to be the leader of our team. I'm Just on a what if kick?! since this season is so frustrating.

To me, what this boils down to is his BS college power spread system, it just doesn't work in the NFL. Personally, I hate that system, running the backs out of shotgun and that east-to-west running style. Then, you add on his stupid personnel moves on top of that was just icing on the cake in getting his own as* fired.
