I remembering hearing rumors of Mychal Kendricks of Philly being available around draft time. I say bring him back to Cal. He's a fa after the season and he isn't part of the new Chip Kelly regime. He could be a great piece to add for our D. Don't forget Philly just traded Boykin to Pitt for a fifth rounder and are known for trading a lot over the past couple seasons. He Would be a huge upgrade of anyone opposite Bowman right now.

Had my eye on him earlier this off-season. Not sure what his situation is now in Philly. You know Chip is willing to deal anybody, but it depends on the price. Also depends if we would re-sign him. Don't want to trade a valuable draft choice for a 1-year rental.

I think it's worth trading at least a 4 th rounder in 2016 for someone above average. It would go a long way for this season.
Moody does not look ready, Skov is situational at best, and whilhote is still recovering. It would only make Bowman even better if he's playing and trusting someone good next to him.
I wouldn't rush to judgement just yet. Fans forget we'll most likely be replacing an ILB for a safety (i.e. Tartt) for better coverage on NICKEL and DIME sets anyway (which will be, what, 60% of the time?). Both Moody and Skov played very well down hill in run support (save for 1 washout); both were $ at the goal line. Willis and Bowman can't even cover WR's on a full sprint across the field from a stand still position while keeping their eyes in the backfield. They can only hope to cut off the initial angle (make it a tough throw) and hope the S's get there over-the-top in time or the CB's peel off their routes and provide additional support. Also, typically the TED ILB "defensive fullback" won't be the one matched up like that (i.e. a 260 pound ILB matched up on a 186 pound WR who runs a 4.4 on a full sprint across the middle of the field or on a go route in the middle of the field from the slot).
I personally feel Mangini was working them in coverage for all 4 quarters to see how they fair...risk/reward for the regular season bank. Also, Bowman and Wilhoite are both good coverage players as well and they are the starters...not the backups like Moody/Skov currently are. Also, if you noticed, we played the ILB's deeper which is why all the short dump-offs were wide open in the middle of the field for bigger gains. This isn't making excuses for them...just pointing out how Mangini was playing/using/scheming them. I actually saw more issues with the S's behind them than their underneath coverage esp. Bethea. But TBF to Reid and Bethea, I didn't exactly get the impression they were playing 100% either.
It's the next game we should watch closely...to see how much they learned from film study from this game (e.g. angles in coverage, read recognition, etc.). Mangini threw them both a bone by leaving them both in all game long while also putting them in positions to assess their weakness (coverage for a TED).
But Madden gon' Madden.

What in the world happened to Desmond Bishop wasn't he a pretty decent starter for Green Bay a few years ago?

Kendricks was a stud last year. Chip wanted a 2nd for him but no one jumped on it...we saw backups all game so not too worried right now.
I'll breath easy once Bow gets on the field.

Kendricks will be in play despite Chip saying he won't trade him. They have 3rd rounder Jordan Hicks, Brad Jones, Emmanuel Acho and Najee Goode to play for their backup slots. Makes no sense to keep a guy you aren't gonna resign for sure when you can get something for him.
Comes down to how 9ers value him. I would feel better with him Bowman Wilhoite and Moody for sure though.

Yeah, he's been injured but does anyone know what it is?
