He offers very inconsistent contain off the edge and zero pass-rush. Sorry, but Armstead not only handles both tasks, he has upside to go with it and is going to get even better.

Start Armstead, rotate Dorsey and Williams to keep NT fresh.

Agree and have believed if they lost four games early (now it's five) they should start the young guys and try to get some enthusiasm out there to feed into next year. I'd be fine if they started the vets and then brought the young guys off the bench. Both Purcell and Armstead displayed better penetration than the vets in preseason, but who knows if that would translate in-season. Armstead has done well in his chances, but would Purcell? Problem is...I also agree Dorsey is better suited for NT so do you sit both he and Williams to give Purcell a shot? Or do you play Purcell on the end?

But the young DBs seem to be getting better and better, and Harold is playing more and making plays...so...go young!

YESSSSSSSS!

Agree, Tartt was all over and looked pretty good...though I wasn't really paying attention to him, he just always popped out making a play.

Yeah Tarrt made a Great Play on that Untouched 70 yard Todd Gurley TD run where Tarrt took an AWFUL ANGLE. It was a great play
Even in the small amount of snaps he's been given you see the flashes. In the long run, when he gets stronger (he's a rook and only 21)and hopefully with better coaching, he'll develop into that Calais Campbell type player that he has been often been compared too since the draft.
Needs to be played more why is TJE still active and Purcell inactive?

I doubt your version, but a rookie making a mistake on a run play? Yeah, it could happen...as Gurley ran between two veteran DL and LBs. But of course it was Tartt's fault because that is your agenda. Negativity for the sake of attention. Oops...dang! I fell for it again!

It was also Eric Reid's fault too for taking a poor angle and being slow slow......AGAIN

I don't recall .40 times but i was surprised Reid wasn't' even fast enough to make a diving attempt at Gurley. But Reid and Tartt both took terrible angles.

No, you mentioned Tarrt played a great game? We must have watched 2 different 49ers/Rams games. I didn't see Tarrt or anyonefor that matter do much on defense especially after the 1st Quarter.

Tartt slipped too, so that was all it took.

My exact words were "looked pretty good." So why put words in my mouth? To support your agenda? Just have your opinions and that's fine...no one is saying you can't.

Beautiful run that had him hit the hole at full speed, untouched. Pretty hard to blame one person for that but if I had to guess, the ILBs didn't fill a hole...which we aren't use to seeing. Still, one really great run from a rookie who is tearing up the league. Out of five games this was his third best...or worst. Take out that one run and it would be the best defensed Gurley has been...other than his six run effort against Pittsburgh. So I'm not ready to get bent out of shape over this run. Gurley is going to be doing that to a lot of teams this year and in the future. He's had runs of 52. 55. 48 yards in the preceding games.
This dood is coming on. Not putting up big stats but you can see the progression and improvement, reminding me of Calais Campbell as a rookie. The stats didn't show it, but he was consistently improving, getting better as the season went on.

He's starting to show very small flickers of dominance.
Strech Armstrong commanding a few double teams today! Who'da thunk it?
