Ya, we're lucky to have a QB contract structured as ours is. I would feel pretty hopeless (as far as football) if Kap had a contract like Cutlers. Someone in our FO deserves a pat on the back for recognizing the issues.

Kap has 16 TD's with 15 turnovers.

And yet benching Kap is blasphemy in some people's eyes. Cutler has 7 more TD's than turnovers. Kap has one more TD than turnovers. Cutler has 12 more TD's than Kap. The lower turnover % and higher TD count probably would have put us in the playoffs. With our defense. If we look at things purely from a statistical standpoint. About one more TD per game.

There's too many variables in play though. Not sure how much better or worse Cutler would be without his 2 WR's in Chicago. Probably worse. And he's not exactly a TD machine. Unless he's playing us. With great field position from Kaps ints. Other variables as well.

The battle of mediocrity! Kaps wins the contract battle. As far as what's best for the team. Cutler scores more and has a lower TD to turnover ratio. Can't run the ball as well though.

Without contracts involved I'd take Cutler over Kap. But not enthusiastically.

Difference there being Kap has had one bad year behind a terrible o-line and Cutler has had maybe 2-3 good years while being a turnover machine pretty much his entire career. Also, Kap's playoff record>>>>>>Cutler's. And Kap doesn't take himself out of playoff games because he has an ouchie, so there's that as well.

Jay Cutler is a poor man's Tony Romo. A regular season stat-sheet hero that can never win a game when it matters. Kap had a down year but still has plenty of time and ability to turn it around.

He's pretty bad. He's an interception machine.
